Dear Residents -

While this week we saw the start of spring, the last two days have certainly not felt like it. And unfortunately, starting early Saturday and into Saturday evening, we are expecting heavy rain and potential flooding. Looking at the bright side though, we had beautiful weather last Sunday for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which by all accounts was a huge success.

As a reminder, early voting for the Presidential Primary starts tomorrow at Town Hall. The hours are a bit different this year due to Easter Sunday falling on what would normally be the last day of voting, so please check the schedule before you head over. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Board of Elections at (845) 638-5172 or check out their website.

I have some exciting news for those of you with young children—the Pearl River Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the Easter Egg Hunt. It will be held at the Central Avenue Field in Pearl River this Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Please note that children must bring their own baskets. Happy hunting!

Please join me in wishing good luck to Orangetown resident Cailyn Flynn, who is leaving for Scotland tonight to represent the Inishfree School of Irish Dancing at the World Irish Dance Championships. Break a leg, Cailyn and know that we will be cheering for you all the way from Orangetown!

Have a great weekend and try to stay dry.

Regards –

60th Annual Rockland County Saint Patrick's Day Parade

On March 17, 2024, Supervisor Kenny joined fellow elected officials to march in the 60th Annual Rockland County Saint Patrick's Day Parade. The skies were blue, the crowd was enthusiastic and the bands were plentiful.

Thanks to the Orangetown Police Department and all first responders who were there to keep everyone safe, especially Lt. Hope Goswick of the Piermont Fire Department EMS who immediately began CPR on a man in cardiac arrest and saved his life (the Town Board will be honoring Lt. Goswick at a future Town Board meeting). And thanks to the Orangetown Highway Department for the great cleanup job!

Orangetown Police Department

We're here with an important reminder to help keep our neighborhood safe. Let's talk about securing cars by locking the doors and removing the key Fobs from vehicles.

Lock your card doors: Don't forget to lock your car doors every time you leave your vehicle, even if it's for a quick errand. Locking up helps prevent opportunistic thieves from targeting your belongings.

Say NO to Car Theft: Leaving your car unlocked is an open invitation to thieves. By taking a few seconds to lock up your car, you can significantly reduce the risk of theft.

Remove Key Fobs: We know it's convenient, but leaving your key fobs inside the car is like giving thieves a free pass to drive away with your vehicle. Always take your key fobs with you and store them in a safe place.

We're Here to Help: If you ever notice any suspicious activity in the neighborhood call the police right away. Be the best witness you can be by providing information on the location, what makes the behavior suspicious, a description of the person(s) or vehicles, and a last known direction of travel if the person(s) have left the area.
