March 6, 2026

Dear Residents,

March is finally here! With it comes Women’s History Month, Irish American-Heritage Month, International Women’s Day (March 8), St. Patrick’s Day (March 17), the 2026 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament (March Madness) and spring (March 20), just to name a few of the many important happenings.

And while July may still seem a long way off, preparations have long been under way for America’s 250th Anniversary celebration. The Orangetown USA250 Committee has been working diligently behind the scenes for months to ensure that this milestone is commemorated in a memorable way. While more details will be announced in the coming months, we can share that the celebration will include a grand parade followed by a fun-filled festival at the German Masonic Park.

To officially kick off the parade, the Orangetown USA250 Committee is hosting a Recognition Ceremony on April 18, 2026, from 12 pm to 5 pm at the historic Old ’76 House in Tappan. During this event, those who have graciously accepted the honor of serving as Aides to the Grand Marshal and Battalion Commanders will be acknowledged. All are welcome to attend. The cost is $20 per person and includes a buffet lunch. Advertising opportunities are also available for a commemorative souvenir journal. Please see the information below for details.

By now, residents should have received the first Town of Orangetown 2026 Annual Newsletter in the mail. This newsletter was created to provide important information, updates, and news affecting our community. If you did not receive a copy, a digital version is available on the Town website HERE.

As a reminder, Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 8, so be sure to set your clocks forward one hour before heading off to bed on Saturday night.

Have a great weekend.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Rockland County AOH/LAOH Emerald Ball

"The start of the Saint Patrick's Day Season"

Supervisor Kenny attended the 62nd Annual Emerald Ball last Saturday at the Pearl River Hilton. The sold-out event celebrated Irish heritage and community spirit, but the highlight of the evening was when Patrick Withers, a longtime friend of the Supervisor, received his Grand Marshal sash from last year’s Grand Marshal, John McGowan—another longtime friend of the Supervisor.

Join us in congratulating Pat and cheering him on as he walks down the avenue on March 22, 2026! ☘️️

19th Annual Penguin Plunge

Supervisor Kenny and other elected officials were happy to see so many people out—despite the frigid water temperatures—to celebrate Kelsey, Logan, and Bryce at the Penguin Plunge.

A special thank you to the Piermont Fire Department Dive Team for remaining in the water to keep the plungers safe, and to Barbara Noyes, Mike Lynch, and the entire Penguin Plunge crew for once again doing an outstanding job.
