Dear Residents -

Unfortunately, due to the rain expected tomorrow, opening day of the Pearl River Farmers Market and the Food Truck Festival are both being postponed to later dates: the Farmers Market to Saturday, May 16, 2026, and the Food Truck Festival to Saturday, May 23, 2026. While disappointing, we are hoping for picture-perfect weather on the new dates.

As a reminder, the annual Budget Vote and Board of Education elections will be held on May 19, 2026. In addition to the budget and board members, the Pearl River School District ballot will contain a $61.4 million bond referendum to fund renovations and infrastructure improvements. To learn more, visit Pearl River School District Bond Information or contact the district at capitalproject@pearlriver.org.

Dog owners—and anyone who enjoys watching dogs and their owners splash around—should mark their calendars for June 20, 2026, from 12 pm to 2 pm. The “Dog Days of Summer” event will take place at Veterans Memorial Park. For $10 per dog, our four-legged residents and their families can enjoy the splash pad together. Proceeds will benefit the Hudson Valley Humane Society. Click HERE for more information.

Have a great weekend and try to stay dry!

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

May 11th to May 16th is National Police Week

The Orangetown Police Department would like to recognize the brave men and women of law enforcement who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Since the first recorded police death in 1786, there have been more than 24,000 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in the United States. Currently, there are 24,775 names engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Among those are Police Officer Michael Reedy and Police Officer Thomas Kennedy of the Orangetown Police Department who were struck and killed by a drunk driver on August 2, 1973 as well as Sgt. Edward O’Grady and Police Officer Waverly Brown of the former Nyack Village Police Department who were shot and killed by suspects of an armored truck robbery that resulted in the death of Brinks Guard Peter Paige on October 20, 1981.

We remember and honor all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty — their courage will never be forgotten.
