Dear Residents -
This week, I had the pleasure of attending two Orangetown senior club meetings. At one, I updated the members on what’s happening in town and answered questions. At the other, I was delighted to wish a member a happy 100th birthday. For me, connecting with Orangetown residents of all ages is my favorite part of the job. If you’re a member of a local organization, club or not-for-profit that is interested in having me at a meeting, reach out to my office and we’ll make every effort to accommodate the request. This not only gives the members a chance to hear from me but more importantly, for me to hear from them.
With Memorial Day only a few weeks away, my staff is busy putting together a list of ceremonies and events taking place in Orangetown. If you are an organizer of such an event, please email Allison Kardon or call (845) 359-5100 x 2293 with the details so that we can include it on our list. While many consider this holiday as the unofficial start of summer, it’s important to remember that it is a time to honor those who died while serving in the military. The list of events will be included in a future newsletter and, as attendance at these events means a lot to our veterans, I ask that you try to attend one.
The opening of the Pearl River Farmers Market last Saturday was a huge success - I know because I am still enjoying the “fruits” (and vegetables) of my shopping. I encourage everyone to check it out one Saturday. But if Saturdays don’t work with your schedule, you can also head to the Nyack Farmers Market on Thursdays or the Piermont Farmers Market on Sundays.
Looking for things to do this weekend? Tomorrow, the Semi-Annual Paper Shredding event at Town Hall is from 8 am to 11:30 am and the Pearl River Farmers Market at the Central Avenue Field is from 10 am to 2 pm. But if you are looking for something a little more exciting to do, head to Nyack for the 2025 Dancing in the Streets event, a free outdoor concert series in the heart of Nyack from 4 pm to 10 pm (boy, that’s a lot of dancing). To accommodate the event, note that N. Broadway will be closed from Main Street to High Avenue from 10 am to approximately midnight.
And on Sunday, if you are fortunate to still have your mom with you, spoil her rotten! To all the amazing moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day.
Regards,
