Dear Residents,
There are so many great events going on this month that I don’t know where to start. So, I will begin with one of my favorites—Pearl River Day. It is next Saturday, October 18, 2025, and it includes the closure of Central Avenue from Main Street to John Street from 11 am to 6 pm. The street will be lined with approximately 200 vendors and there will be live music, kids’ activities, and great food. Special thanks to the Pearl River Chamber of Commerce for hosting this event, which is now in its 18th year.
Tomorrow, for the last time this year, the Pearl River Farmers Market will welcome back Wellington Pot Pies. They will have their seasonal Thanksgiving pies, including a Traditional Turkey, Stuffing-Topped Turkey, and Sweet Potato Pot Pie topped with pecans. Check them and the other great vendors out from 10 am - 2 pm at the Central Avenue Field in Pearl River. Click HERE for a complete list of vendors.
Speaking of the Pearl River Farmers Market, mark your calendar for Saturday, October 25, 2025, as fruit and veggie expert Pete Napolitano—host of the long-running segment “Produce Pete” on NBC’s Weekend Today in New York—will be there. Pete is a celebrated chef and author, and will be (subject to the weather) there for a meet and greet. To learn more about Pete, click HERE.
It's also time to start collecting your old documents (like bank statements, credit card bills, or any other papers which include personal information) so you are ready for the semi-annual Paper Shredding and Non-Perishable Food Collection at Town Hall next Saturday from 8 am to 11:30 am. This event is sponsored by Town Clerk Rosanna Sfraga and more details can be found below.
I also want to take a moment to thank the Orangetown Police Department and the multiple local and regional agencies, as well as our residents, who participated in the search for a 5-year-old child who was reported missing in South Nyack on Monday. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, the child was safely located and reunited with his family.
Please note that Town Hall will be closed on Monday, October 13, 2025 in observance of Columbus Day.
Have a great long weekend!
Regards,
