The State of Illinois awards nearly $46 million in emergency grants for small businesses through the BIG Program
Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced $46 million in small business grants this week. This first round of the historic Business Interruption Grant (BIG) program will direct grants to more than 2,600 small businesses spanning 400 cities and 78 counties throughout the state.

The BIG program ensures an equity-first approach - with more than $24 million of funds devoted to disproportionately impacted areas (DIAs), and more than 50 percent of all grants in the first round provided to minority-owned businesses.

“While the first round of BIG will provide a much-needed boost for thousands of businesses around the state, we know there is much more we must do. Through a number of programs launched in recent weeks, and with another round of BIG on the horizon, we will continue to respond to the needs facing our business community and work to provide assistance where it’s needed most," said Acting Director of DCEO, Michael Negron.

To ensure ongoing support for Illinois small businesses, the State of Illinois has planned future rounds of funding. For more information on future opportunities, check for updates at the link below.

Your Response Matters - U.S. Census 2020
Health clinics. Fire departments. Schools. Even roads and highways. The census can shape many different aspects of your community. Census results affect our community every day.

According to the Illinois Department of Human Services website, on the state level, an accurate count of Illinois' population is essential to ensure that the State receives the funding it needs to properly care for its residents and provide critical services and programs. In 2015, Illinois received $19,738,866,367, or approximately $1,535 per capita, in federal assistance for sixteen programs. The failure to count every Illinois resident would have devastating effects on Illinois' ability to meet the needs of its residents. Even a one-percent undercount would result in the State losing $19,557,435 per year for a decade, resulting in a total loss of $195,574,350.
