Dear Friends,

As children are heading back to school this week, we are already getting great reports on the schools many of them will be attending.

Congratulations to the students and teachers of the school districts of Fox Point J2, Whitefish Bay, Hamilton, Mequon-Thiensville, Friess Lake, Grafton, Menomonee Falls, Richfield J1, Maple Dale-Indian Hill, Nicolet High, and Germantown. They were all ranked as "Exceeding Expectations" in the latest district report cards.

The report cards take into account student achievement (test scores), student growth (improvement year-to-year on tests), closing performance gaps, and college readiness. We are blessed to have so many great schools in our area.

As always, if you have any concerns or ideas on how to improve our great state, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 608-266-5830 or by email at Sen.Darling@legis.wi.gov .

On, Wisconsin!

Wisconsin Receives Record Transportation Funding
Last week, I joined Governor Walker to mark the official end to the Zoo Interchange project on time. This week, we learned the federal government is sending us a record $91 million in redistributed road funding.

This is great news for our state. It is significantly higher than expected and around $30 million more than we received last year.

The Trump Administration clearly recognizes our growing economy and the infrastructure needs that come with it. I look forward to working with Governor Walker on the best way to utilize this funding.
$95 Million for Families
Thanks to a $400 million surplus, we were able to return a significant portion of it back to taxpayers in the form of a Child Tax Rebate and August Sales Tax Holiday.

I'm happy to report that More than a half million Wisconsin families received $95 million thanks to the Child Tax Rebate.

Raising a family can be hard. I'm glad we were able to give so many families a little help.
