High School Youth Gatherings

September 15 is our first meeting of the high school youth group for the new program year.  We meet on the first and third Sundays of each month  from  3:30-5 pm

Our gatherings make space for getting to know one another and to explore our faith through times of fun and games, food and fellowship, and conversation and prayer. The High School Youth Group goes on retreats, spends extended time together in overnights at the church, and participates in mission trips.

The Rev. Holly Hoffmann, Anne Sedlack, and Peter Durin are the adults primarily involved with our high school youth group.

If you would like to be added to our email list to learn about upcoming high school youth events, please contact the Rev. Holly Hoffmann at hhoffmann@stalbansmaine.org.

CLYNK For Pilgrims

Please take a St. Alban's Clynk bag for your returnables to your home or camp to support St. Alban's youth. Money collected through the Clynk bags from St. Alban's go to support the High School Youth Pilgrimage in the Summer of 2020.

How it works
When the bags are full, bring them directly to a Hannaford Grocery Store, scan the bag's tag, and know your donation is then credited to our Clynk account.
(Please do not bring full Clynk bags to the church.)

If you have questions, please see our Associate Rector and high school youth group leader The Rev. Holly Hoffmann hhoffmann@stalbansmaine.org

Read a Psalm with me, please!

Psalm 100, a favorite of many. Let's read it aloud...

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.

Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing.
Know that the Lord is God.

It is he that made us, and we are his;[a]
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
 and his courts with praise.

Give thanks to him, bless his name.
For the Lord is good;
 his steadfast love endures forever...

This Sunday we claim as Homecoming, and we return to church with a refreshed spirit after our summer wanderings.

And this year we are indeed going to be making a joyful noise!

  • At 9:30 our Chancel Choir returns with its new director Joel Pierce, and will be joined by the delightful visiting soprano Jennifer Bates in solo and with the choir.
  •  At Eventide...a real Homecoming as all four of our regular musicians are joined and our wandering cellist Shannon Allen, coming home.
  • And at 8:00 o'clock we gather in early light and quiet to share our thanks and praise.

See you in church! Many blessings.

This Sunday!

Parish Breakfast returns this Sunday,
September 8th after 9:30 am service

Everyone is welcome.
Bible Study with Tim...
still room for you!

Safe Church

Being Safe Church Trained is required by the Diocese of Maine for all clergy, paid church staff, regular pastoral visitors, Eucharistic Ministers and Visitors, Worship Leaders, and adults who supervise children and youth on and off church premises.

Safe Church certification remains current for 4 years and can be completed fully online and at home. Click here for directions for both Part A and Part B.

Send completed certificates to hhoffmann@stalbansmaine.org or drop hard copies to the church office.

If you would like technical support with the online training modules, contact  Debbie Fisher or the Rev. Holly Hoffmann. The training takes about 3 hours to complete, if done in one sitting. It is recommended, though, that you complete the training over several sessions.

St. Alban's Gives Back
Can You Help?
Will You Help Us?
From "Preble Street Today"; Summer 2019:  Driven by our mission, Preble Street has a 45-year history of filling service gaps, meeting urgent needs, and working collaboratively to provide opportunity and hope for our vulnerable neighbors.

For many years, Saint Alban's has been a collaborative partner by making and serving the noon meal for 250 people on the second Saturday of each month.

We start cooking at 10, serve at noon and are cleaned up and finished by 1:15.

Saturday, September 14th is our next opportunity.

Would you like to be a part of the team?  Adults and children who are 13 years or older are very welcome.  If you are interested or would like more information, please email Louise Sullivan ( rsullivan1@maine.rr.com) or Nancy Shablom ( nwpoint@verizon.net).

For your well-being
Yoga for all

All Levels  Yoga is suitable for continuing and beginning students. Our focus will be on cultivating

a clear, intelligent and balanced practice of postures, breathing techniques and relaxation.  Class size is small and props are used to individualize student's needs / abilities. The  yoga props will be provided. If you own a  yoga mat, please bring it with you. The next 4-week session begins on September 25 and will meet 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, and 10/30 and beyond.  The cost for each 4 week session is $60.

Holly Hofmann  (a local   yoga   teacher and not our Associate Rector) is a compassionate, experienced and certified    yoga  teacher who encourages patience, humor and kindness as the body naturally unfolds.

The contemplative practices of yoga can bring an inner calm and peace to daily life.  Or as poet Galway Kinnell so beautifully expresses, a form of "self-blessing" --- "The bud stands for all things, for everything flowers, from within, of self-blessing".

To sign up, email ktucker@stalbansmaine.org  and then bring a check payable to St. Alban's for $60 to the office at St. Alban's by Sunday, September 22. Note in the memo line that the check is for yoga class.

Save the date! All are Welcome!
