Dear Friends,

How do you get to Carnegie Hall?  Practice, practice, practice!

That's how Nicolet High School's orchestra did it!  They are headed to the New York City landmark to perform on Friday, April 14th.

There's more good news on the economic front for Wisconsin.  Our state's economy outpaced the four other Midwest states according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.  The survey takes into account  statewide figures in consumer spending, manufacturing, mining, and construction, service industries and consumer spending.  That's great news and more proof that Wisconsin is open for business!

As always, if you have any ideas on how to improve our great state, including how to improve the budget, please do not hesitate to contact me at or 608-266-5830.

Budget Public Hearing at State Fair Park
This week, the Joint Committee on Finance held three public hearings.  On Monday, we were in Platteville, on Wednesday we visited West Allis, and we ended the week on Friday in Berlin.  The turnout has been impressive.

As of today, more than 700 people made their voice heard on the governor's budget proposal. I was very p roud to see my constituent Jesse Pennington-Cross bravely testify in front of so many people! Above you can see a picture of Jesse talking in front of hundreds of people - and our reaction.  Jesse talked about the importance of mental health funding for our schools. Thanks Jesse!

If you were not able to attend, don't worry more hearings are scheduled in a couple weeks. We will be visiting Spooner, Ellsworth, and Marinette the week of April 17th.  For more details visit here.

Please stop by and make your voice heard!  If you can't make it, you can still submit testimony to

Donate Life Month

This week, both the State Senate and State Assembly approved my resolution to declare April as Donate Life Month in Wisconsin.

As you may know, my husband was on the organ donation waiting list when he passed away, so I know firsthand what it's like to wait and hope.

Even though there were 800 organ transplants in Wisconsin. Right now, there are more than 2,000 people on the organ donation waiting list in our state. Almost half have waited more than two years.

It's my hope designating April as Donate Life Month in Wisconsin will bring more attention to the need for more organ donors.  If you would like to add your name to the list visit or
