Rally Day 2022 is this Sunday!
Join Us!
Rally Day, our annual community-building event, is this Sunday September 18th!
We will start our day of with joyful worship in the sanctuary at 10:00AM. Following worship service, join us for grilled burgers and hotdogs, and fellowship! Please bring a side salad and/or a dessert.
We will need you to RSVP so we can plan accordingly. In order for our day to be a success, we will need some helpers to lend a hand. Please use the RSVP button on the left. If you prefer, a paper sign up sheet will be available starting this weekend on the bulletin board outside Jeff's office.

CUMC Clean-up Day
Please join us in Fellowship and Community for our CUMC Clean-up Day on October 1st, from 9:30AM-12:30PM.
Our mission is to bring the CUMC member and family community together for a few hours to give our beautiful building some "TLC touchups". This will be a great time to gather again just two weeks after Rally Day and share more fellowship and fixing up fun. Many hands make light work and we will have some simple indoor projects for all ages and abilities. Refreshments will be served! Adult Discussion Group Resumes
Next Week!
The Adult Discussion Group will resume its weekly meetings on Sunday, September 25th, at 11:15am in the Asbury Room. While we often discuss the gospel lesson for that day, we’ll have sessions this fall on Prayer, OT Kings, and Advent. Please join us and watch for our announcements. Music Groups Begin!
Our next meeting of the Ukulele Orchestra will be on September 17th in the Asbury Room, both in-person and on Zoom. The Covenant Choir has begun rehearsing on Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m. in the Music Room. The Wesley Ringers will begin practice on Thursday evening of September 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. If you would like information about any of our music groups: The Covenant Choir, The Wesley Ringers, the Wind Ensemble, The Praise Band, or The Ukulele Orchestra contact Music Director, Peter Hill, at petepiano@mac.com. Our New Simpson Seminarian Intern/Youth Ministry
David Gaitán
About David:
David Gaitán was born into an Evangelical-Pentecostal Christian home in the city of Bogotá, Colombia. He has worked as a journalist, radio and television producer, media editor, and graphic designer. Also, he has been an international consultant on communication, social media, leadership, and theological issues.
His influence has been spread throughout Latin America and the United States through his articles and essays (mainly in Spanish) in which he has approached social topics of the 21st century. Also, he served as pastor at “La Casa del Arbol de Almendro – Bogotá” for 8 years.
His research and journalistic contributions have added voices to the political, theological, and social discussion in the places where he is consulted, raising important questions regarding human behavior and proposing evaluation topics to improve communities. As the author of the book “Inmersion”, and other publications, he is part of a group of pastors and theologians who identify themselves with Contextual Theological movements in Latin America and the United States. Currently, David is a full member of the United Methodist Church, a Master of Divinity student at Drew University Theological School, and he is pursuing the UMC Ordination. Be a Hero! A UMC Youth Collective Event
Sunday, September 25th

In celebration of National Comic Book Day, we will have our own gathering of heroes. The UMC Youth Collective will be gathering our youth, have bringing in their favorite comics, and join us for a night of hero adventures, games, challenges, conversations and of course food. Let us know if you can join us! Dress for comfort and movement. For Ages 12 - 17.

In an effort to build strong community ties with our youth, Youth Leaders, Pastors, and volunteers have joined together to expand on the collaborative effort of a United Methodist Youth Collective for the Meadowlands District. What started as a small collective last spring between the Chatham, Madison, and Summit UMC's has now grown to include churches from Little Falls, Green Village, Maplewood, South Orange, Union and beyond. We are very excited for what God has in store for this collective and continued ministry efforts.

The CUMC Church Council has voted unanimously to follow the CDC Covid Data tracker for Morris County to evaluate weekly Covid levels. Going forward, this tracker will help guide us in determining our indoor mask usage for all CUMC functions. Covid levels and recommendations are updated weekly on Thursday nights by the CDC. These updates will be used at CUMC from Friday-Friday and will state if masks required (high level) or optional (medium/low). You may check to see what the current Morris County Covid levels are prior to coming by clicking below.
