The CUMC Missions Committee has selected the following organizations to receive this year's contributions: Local CUMC Food PantryNational UMCOR Disaster ResponseInternational Hospital #5 in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Dear Friends,

It has been our Congregation’s Annual Tradition to give a gift during the Christmas season to each member of our Church staff. As a reminder, we plan to give the gifts out by Friday, December 23rdIf you wish to participate, please mail your check, attention Co-Lay Leaders, or feel free to hand it to either Chris or Hal after the Sunday service so that it is received no later than Monday, December 19th. Checks should be made out to Chatham United Methodist Church, with the memo line indicating Staff Christmas Gift, or, if you are familiar with our online donation service via Vanco, you may make a payment by going to our website at www.chathamumc.org, click on the “Make a Donation” button and follow the instructions. Please use the “Other-Miscellaneous” field to enter your payment amount.

ENews:

Deadline: Last submission for 2022 is

this Tuesday, December 20th!

The ENews scheduled for Thursday, December 22nd will be for two weeks. There will be no newsletter on Thursday, December 29th. If you would like to submit something to publish for this two week time frame, the deadline is Tuesday, December 20th at 10:00 AM. Submissions should be made to Eileen Ruggiero at chatumc@optonline.net.


Office Closure:

The Church Office will be closed from Monday, December 26th through Sunday, January 1st. The office will reopen on Monday, January 2nd at 10:00 AM.

Epiphany White Gift Sunday will be

celebrated on January 8th


This year we will celebrate our Epiphany Service on Sunday, January 8th. We have decided to give the Magi a few extra days to make their long journey! Our White Gifts this year will once again benefit Our PromiseOur Promise is a day center for those facing homelessness in Morristown; it is under the umbrella of the Family Promise organization. The suggested list for White Gift donations will be provided in the ENews next week and at the Christmas Eve worship services.

This Sunday we complete our exploration of Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes. Now, we visit John’s gospel, which is quite different from the other gospels. Where is the Christmas story? Come join us at 11:15 as we try to unravel this puzzle of a gospel. During Sunday, December 18th’s service at 10:00 a.m. The Wesley Ringers will perform Ding, Dong Merrily on High with Mike Maguire, keyboard, the Ukulele Orchestra will play The Little Drummer Boy, and the Covenant Choir will sing John Rutter’s Angels’ Carol. Join us!

 

The next meeting of the Ukulele Orchestra will take place at 10:00 a.m. on December 17th both in-person in the Asbury Room and on Zoom. For information contact, music director, Peter Hill at petepiano@mac.com

 

Our music groups welcome new musicians, particularly in the new year. The CUMC Church Council has voted unanimously to follow the CDC Covid Data tracker for Morris County to evaluate weekly Covid levels. This tracker is used to guide us in determining our indoor mask usage for all CUMC functions. Covid levels and recommendations are updated weekly on Thursday nights by the CDC. These updates will be used at CUMC from Friday-Friday and will state if masks required (high level) or optional (medium/low). You may check to see what the current Morris County Covid levels are prior to coming by clicking below.
