JFK Award, IXL Learning, Independent Living Event, and more...
From the Superintendent
Dear Ferndale Family,
Nominations are now being accepted for the JFK Award. The John F. Kennedy Award provides an annual opportunity for teachers, administrators, and members of the community to nominate and recognize seniors who demonstrate a combination of outstanding scholarship and individual responsibility. The nominees should exemplify the goals of public education, which include integrity, maturity, industry, scholarship, citizenship, athletic and/or cultural contributions, school and/or community support, and personal goals. If you would like to nominate a student, please use our submission form to compose a brief summary stating your reasons for making your nomination and comment on how the nominee exemplifies these traits.
Student Kieren Venugopal expressed his thanks while practicing social distancing. The sign reads, "Thank you, FMS Team. We appreciate you!!"
Independent Living Presentation to Proceed VIRTUALLY
The Special Education department had previously scheduled a district parent presentation/event on Independent Living by the Autism Association of Michigan. Due to the closure, the event will now be a free, virtual presentation to be held on April 28 from 2-4 pm. Register at aaomi.org/ilt-registration.
Helping Hands: A Students for Students Movement and Bloomfield Hills Student Leadership have organized a free tutoring service for students to use if they need help with their homework or content. This Google Form asks students about what subject they need help with, their grade, and requested date of tutoring, allowing us to properly assign your student with a tutor to help them. If your student would like to sign up to be a tutor, they can sign up for a subject or multiple subjects with this SignUp Genius. During this time in our community, we understand that there may be some difficulties with learning, but we hope that this platform will serve as a means to help alleviate this struggle.
Expands with IXL
Students at Ferndale Lower & Upper Elementaries, FMS, FHS and UHS now have access to IXL, an online resource to support student learning.
