Ordering honey for Rosh Hashanah from Honey from the Heart is open now! Support AJWA Sisterhood by ordering some today. It’s just $18.00 per jar, including free shipping on orders placed by August 4. The order deadline for guaranteed Rosh Hashanah delivery is September 10 (Rosh Hashanah begins September 22).

If you ordered last year, Leslie Sokolow will be sending you an email in the next few days that details last year’s order to hopefully make things easier. Please note that the email will come from “Honey from the Heart” not from Leslie directly. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call Leslie at 215.758.2404. If you haven’t ordered before, here are the instructions.

  • Create an account on https://www.orthoney.com/.
  • Verify your email address by following the step on the verification email that Honey from the Heart sends you.
  • Log on with your account to see the order screen.
  • Under “Select an organization,” scroll down to find “CAJ” (Congregation Adath Jeshurun).
  • Select order method by choosing “enter a new order” and name your order.
  • A page will come up to add the name, address, and greeting.
  • Click “add recipient to cart,” verify the address and check out.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Two Shabbat Morning Services This Weekend!

An Exercise in Mussar

In the Strauss Chapel at 10:00 AM

This Shabbat, July 5, we’ll be swapping out our traditional mussaf service for an exercise in Mussar. (Mussar is an ethical self-improvement movement that began in 19th-century Lithuania.) On this Shabbat, we’ll read about Moses’ anger issues that prevented him from completing his life’s mission. Our Mussar exercise will then focus on ways that Moses, and his spiritual descendants, can overcome the temptations to react with anger. Please register using the July online service registration form.

KOL ECHAD: A Traditional Egalitarian Minyan

In the Braemer Auditorim at 9:15 AM

You're invited to join a lay-led, traditional egalitarian service being held at AJ. We'll have a lot of kids at our service, and would love to see your children too!

“Traditional egalitarian” means that we will use the traditional liturgy that you might find at an Orthodox synagogue (including the full Torah reading rather than a triennial cycle), but with women and men playing an equal part in leading and participating. There will be mixed seating (men and women sit together). We hope to create a space for soulful, authentic, spirited prayer.

Join us on Saturday, July 5 at 9:15 AM in the Braemer Auditorium at AJ. For security purposes, we ask that you RSVP in advance by 2:00 PM TODAY. Click here to register.

EVENTS BEYOND AJ

Orange County Community Scholar Program (CSP)

Congregation Adath Jeshurun, dedicated to the Jewish value of learning for its own sake (Torah lishmah), has partnered with the Orange County Community Scholar Program (CSP)If you register and can’t attend, a link will be sent after the event to a recording. There is also an archive of classes that you can view here. You can see July's classes here.

AJ Space for Families

Stay and listen, stay and pray, stay and play.

IMG_0716 image

We have spaces for you to step out of the pews when you need a short break. In the back of the sanctuary you'll find a family corner with a bin of books and small toys. We've also created a new family space adjacent to the main lobby. This space is designed to give families with young children a place to stretch or take a break without going far from the sanctuary. We welcome your joy and encourage you to come to services with your whole family this year! We can’t do this without you!
