This week we wrap up our series on The Lord’s Prayer. I have enjoyed this series and felt like it has helped me deepen my faith as I have discovered the prayer is not just words we say but a model for how to pray and, more importantly, a model for how to live.

The prayer ends with “For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever.” The only trouble with that is that it isn’t in the Bible. These words aren’t in the early manuscripts of Matthew or Luke. To make it even more challenging, it would be bizarre for a Jewish teacher like Jesus to end the prayer with a request such as “deliver us from evil.” That just wasn't done. So what do we do? How do we understand, “For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever?” Come and join us for worship tonight at 6:30 pm or Sunday 9 and 11 to discover what it means to live out the final phrase of the prayer.

The message should be compelling as I try to combine the Jewish Kaddish (the mourner’s prayer), Johann Sebastian Bach, and Kayne West. I may even throw in Tim Tebow for good measure. If you can’t be there to see if I can tie this all together, check us out online for live stream on the website  firstunited.org  or our Facebook page. Just remember when watching online, the camera adds 10lbs! Either that or I have been eating a lot of leftover Reese Cups from Halloween. See you this weekend.

Peace out,
Scott
