Dear Saint Rose Families,

Last week I had the opportunity to chaperone the 7th grade class trip to The Ohio State University Stone Lab on Gibraltar Island in Lake Erie. This is my fourth year making this trip and it has always been a memorable experience. The students learn a great deal about the importance of Lake Erie and the Great Lakes.  They go on a science cruise, trawl for fish, capture macro invertebrates, dissect fish, and more. This year they also bonded over a campfire, s'mores, an epic scavenger hunt and some rowboat misadventures.  They formed memories and had experiences that they will have for the rest of their lives.

This is not a unique experience at Saint Rose.  From preschool visits to Gust Brothers Farm to the 8th grade trip to D.C, from 2nd grade First Communion to 8th Grade Confirmation, the formation of our students extends far beyond the classroom. We are blessed to have such wonderful opportunities.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bryon Borgelt

Extended Day Hours

Please Note: Our Extended Day Hours have changed.

The afternoon extended day times

now run from 3:30-5:30pm.

'Tis the season for germs! Many students are visiting the nurse's office with stuffy and runny noses, sore throats, etc.

Please be sure to keep sick children at home. Students must be 24 hours fever free, without the use of fever reducing medication.

Please refer to the school handbook for more information.

CYO Request

Please email cyo@saintroseonline.org with any questions and availability.

Thank you!

**Please note: Students are not able to enter the classrooms until 8:40am. If Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, or other adult needs to leave early, students will need to go to Morning Care. Thank you!

Alumni Spotlight

Austin Retzloff is a 2013 graduate of St. Rose School. He has many fond memories of friends, experiences and teachers from his years at St. Rose. Some of his favorite memories include the Wednesday all school Masses, the annual 8th grade Miming of the Cross, and the Geography Bee. He also enjoyed playing touch football during recess. A few teachers who positively impacted on Austin include Mrs. Anne Brahier, Mr. Aaron Kruse, Mrs. Martha Culley, and undoubtedly his favorite, Mrs. Diane Leyland, Austin’s grandmother. Austin was also fortunate to participate in many school masses of which his uncle, Father Thomas Leyland, presided. Austin felt like St. Rose excelled at creating a community which fostered families and friendships; he made lifelong friends while at St. Rose and is still in touch with many of those friends today.

Austin feels that St. Rose prepared him well for high school, especially his advanced Math class which allowed him to take higher level math classes while at Perrysburg High School. After graduating from Perrysburg, Austin attended the Ohio State University and is currently enrolled at USF Morsani College of Medicine where he recently completed his third year of medical school. Austin recalls participating in a career exploration project while in middle school at St. Rose. For his project, Austin shadowed an Anesthesiologist. Although he has decided to pursue a different medical path, Austin is grateful for the experience at St. Rose which inspired his dream of becoming a doctor. This dream will be fulfilled in just a few short years.

Congratulations Austin!
