Dear Saint Rose Families,

Saint Rose School is pleased to announce that student lunches will now be prepared in our school cafeteria.  Mrs. Kellie Cole, our new cafeteria manager, is excited to cook healthy and tasty lunches for our students and share the wonderful improvements to our lunch program.

Students will be able to purchase the entree of the day, a chicken patty sandwich, or build a salad from our new salad bar. Tofts will continue to provide our milk and frozen novelties and Mrs. Cole will also prepare special desserts.

To purchase the quality ingredients necessary for improved meals, Saint Rose will have a modest increase in the student lunch prices by $0.25.

Saint Rose School is committed to continuing the free and reduced price lunch program for families that meet the financial qualifications.  Please complete the Family Income Form and return it to Ms. Kim Sankowski at ksankowski@saintroseonline.org

Families can add funds to their children’s lunch accounts by following this link.  Checks/cash can also be sent into the school’s office. New and Kindergarten families will need to send in cash or check until their Payschools account has been created.

Currently, families will need to order their student's lunches a week in advance.  A form will be shared in each week’s newsletter.  Please complete the form each week so the proper amount of food can be ordered and prepared.

Students will continue to enter their lunch account numbers each day when they purchase their lunch or extras.

We look forward to this new venture and opportunity for our community!

Sincerely,

Dr. Bryon Borgelt

Middle School Service Project Opportunity

Middle School students can earn one hour of school service time by assembling yard signs for school families. The signs and their posts can be picked up from the school office on Friday, August 9.

Completed signs need to be returned to the office on Monday, August 12.

Please email Dr. Borgelt at borgelt@saintroseonline.org to sign up.

  • The negative mental and physical health impacts on children who regularly use social media has been linked to depression, anxiety, poor sleep habits, exposure to explicit content, and online bullying/harassment.  Our students are surrounded by the pressures of social media.  This can put our parents in difficult situations.

In order to better support our parents and to promote healthy digital management, Saint Rose is requiring all parents (4th through 8th grade) to attend one of the two following presentations at Saint Rose.  Attending one of these presentations is a requirement in order for you children to attend any class trips.  Parents who attended presentations last year ( grades 6-8) are not required to attend but are welcome as two new presentations are being offered.   Saint Rose School along with School Advisory council has arranged for the following speakers/round table discussions.

Wednesday August 28th at 7pm Mona Al-Hayani will host a presentation in the Sacred Heart Center:

  • Mona Al-Hayani is the current Vice President for the Toledo Federation of Teachers and a full time teacher at Toledo Public schools since 1999.  Since 2014, she has been an active member of Northern Ohio Regional Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking or REACH.  Here in northwest Ohio and also nationally, she has focused her efforts on youth prevention and education.

Wednesday, September 5th at 7pm the parents of 4th through 8th grade students are invited to join a discussion about parenting experiences and recommendations for managing their child’s exposure to social media and cell phone usage.

  • Saint Rose will host a Saint Rose Parent Round Table Discussion on the topic of social media and mental health implications. Dr. Julia Burrow will join Dr. Borgelt in facilitating this discussion. Julia Burrow, MD is a Saint Rose Parish member, school parent and has given multiple talks to the Saint Rose School community on this topic.  Dr. Bryon Borgelt will talk about how Catholic Schools are seeking to instill Catholic Moral Virtue as they respond to the issues social media and cell phones present to our children as inspired by the book, The Anxious Generation by researcher Jonathan Haidt.  This will be a great opportunity to draw from others' experiences to help navigate raising children in this social media age.

Transportation Reimbursements

Public school districts are legally required to either provide transportation or provide transportation reimbursements to families attending non-public schools.

Perrsyburg, Eastwood and Rossford all provide bus transportation to students attending Saint Rose School.

Families outside of those attending these three districts should reach out to their public district to inquire about their school transportation reimbursement. Each district varies on how they go about this. Please reach out sooner rather than later. These funds are usually several hundred dollars per student.

Don't Forget about EdChoice

The EdChoice Scholarship has proven to be a great resource for our families and our school. The average scholarship per student this past year was over $3,000.00. Our families were able to see savings on their tuition costs. Saint Rose was able to provide all teachers, aides, and support staff with a bonus to better compensate our faculty and staff.

We look forward to our K-8 families being provided this opportunity for 2024/25.

Affidavit for Minimum Scholarship Amount

Families that wish to only apply for the minimum scholarship ($616.60 for grades K-8 or $840.80 for grades 9-12), but do not wish to submit income information can now complete an affidavit, have it notarized and submit it via the income verification portal. This affidavit may only be used in lieu of income information for applicants who are applying for the minimum scholarship amount. Once the affidavit is reviewed and approved, the scholarship system will assign an annual household income in the amount of $10 million allowing applicants to be awarded the minimum amount for each child’s scholarship.

Read More and Access Links HERE

Scholarship funds are STILL AVAILABLE and can cover tuition for qualifying families over and above the EdChoice Scholarship. Families SHOULD APPLY for both EdChoice and the Saint Rose Scholarships!
