Dear Saint Rose Families,
Congratulations on reaching the end of the first quarter. Friday, October 12 marks the end of the quarter. So much progress has happened over the past nine weeks. I hope that you see examples of growth in terms of faith, academics, compassion, a commitment to service, and moral development. I also hope that you and your child are looking forward to the next three quarters.
Next week is a big week for our 7th and 8th grade students. The 8th grade will leave early Monday morning for a four day trip to our nation's capital. They will stop at Gettysburg on the way before taking the time to explore Washington D.C. and the surrounding area. Their trip will include all of the usual D.C. stops as well as Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine and Immaculate Conception. It promises to be a week of great experiences.
The 7th grade will leave on Thursday for an overnight trip to Cleveland where they will visit the Federal Reserve, tour the science center and spend the night in the Cleveland aquarium.
These are two great opportunities for our middle school students in addition to the annual 6th grade camp and the middle school ski trip. At Saint Rose we understand that a great deal of learning and formation can come through experiences outside of the classroom.
Please pray for the safety of all our students and especially for those traveling.

Kroger Community Rewards
Time to print your Rewards Balance
It is time to print your Kroger Community Rewards balance. Please send the print-out to the Saint Rose School office to the attention of Alison Ray-Kobler. Alternatively, you can send a print-out of your earnings to Alison at
[email protected].
To ensure that we have the most up to date information on file, please also write the name of the St. Rose child/family who should receive the credit for your earnings (if applicable). The only way we are able to assign the Kroger Community Rewards to a specific student account is by having the participants print and submit their Kroger Community Rewards donation amount.
Please note: Kroger recently upgraded their Community Rewards system, and as a result, St. Rose has a new account number - (CN971). Don't worry - the previous number will continue to be associated with St. Rose, but it will not be visible to new members when enrolling. For those existing members, your account may already reflect the new number - CN971. If you have questions, you can reach out to Alison at the email address above.

If you did not play a fall CYO sport, don't forget to make your physical appointments soon. A doctor's signature is still required before participation. The form for doctor's signature is available now on our parish website CYO page. If we have a form on file from a fall CYO sport a new one is not needed.

ATTENTION BASKETBALL COACHES - NEW AND RETURNING!
- Please be sure to register for coaches Initial Certification or Re- Certification through the St. Rose Parish Office. Visit the CYO Toledo website for a list of upcoming dates.
- There will be a parish coaches meeting scheduled at the end of October, date TBD.

Saint Rose School theme for the year:
As the Catholic Church celebrated Respect Life Sunday on October 7, Saint Rose School began our monthly program of awareness of various issues related to respecting and loving the life that God had given to all of us.
October's theme is an awareness of
Loving Those with Disabilities
This is also National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Students will experience an activity or lesson highlighting the gifts of individuals with Disabilities.

The Toledo Diocese Office for Persons with Disabilities sponsors a summer camp for families with a member who has a disability.
Our collections for Mass and Alternate Dress in October will be donated for the Family Camp.

Saint Rose School Family Service Events
Saint Rose School will organize four Family Service Events during the year to encourage families to serve and volunteer together. Let us teach our children to put their faith into action by serving God, His People, and His Creation.
The first event is Sunday, October 21 at
Sunshine Community
at 7223 Maumee Western Rd, Maumee, OH 43537, from 1:30-4:30 pm. Sunshine Community serves individuals with developmental disabilities. Their clients range in age from 1 year old into the 80s.
Sunshine is hosting a Spooky Boardwalk trick-or-treat event on Sunday, October 21. Saint Rose School will host a station(s) to distribute candy. (It's not a scary event!). This is appropriate for all ages. Depending on the response, we can host multiple stations. Families will enjoy creating a simple theme for the station, if desired. Costumes are welcome! Set-up is 1:30-2:30 pm, and the trick-or-treating is from 2:30-4:30 pm. This is an outdoor event, but there is a back-up plan if there is inclement weather. 2018 ANGEL TREE
Often times, in our communities or our own circumstances, we find our neighbors or ourselves in need. It is our desire and responsibility to assist those who are struggling to make ends meet and in a special way, to do so during Advent and Christmas. If you find yourself in a difficult financial situation or someone else you know who lives in the Perrysburg area, please call our parish office at 419-874-4559 to receive an invitation to participate in our annual Angel Tree Program. This parishioner-supported program provides Christmas gifts and assistance with food and gas during the Christmas season for those families in need. The participants need not be parishioners of Saint Rose but must reside in the Perrysburg area. Those in need are able to participate in the program for up to two years. All inquiries are strictly confidential. Our deadline for all requests to be submitted is October 31st, 2018.
