Dear Saint Rose Families,
We face a moment of great sadness as violence has once again taken innocent, young lives in a school. Our prayers go out to the two students and two teachers, who were victims of this violence at Apalachee High School in northern Georgia. We pray for healing from the trauma this community experienced, for safety, and for an end to all forms of violence.
Over the past year Saint Rose School has invested nearly $100,000 in school safety improvements. These funds were made possible through a government grant. Safety film has been installed on all entrances, our video surveillance system has been upgraded with additional cameras, and the PA system has been expanded to add outdoor speakers, improved sound, and speakers in the hallways. The new visitor badging system was also added, providing a background check on all visitors and the phone system recently went through an upgrade. All of our teachers and aides have received ALICE training through the Perrysburg Police Department and will also be trained in first aid by the Perrysburg Fire Department in October. Finally, we practice our emergency response drills with the Perrysburg Police on multiple occasions to ensure safety throughout our campus.
The safety of our community is our utmost priority. We are dependent upon the open communication of all of our community stakeholders. Please have conversations with your children and eliminate, restrict or at least monitor their social media. Finally, please reach out regarding any threats or concerning behavior. We are partners in the formation and protection of our young people.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bryon Borgelt
