This week, the 8th grade Literature and Language Arts classes had their long-awaited "Tell-Tale Heart Mock Trial," which is based off of Edgar Allan Poe's short story, "The Tell-Tale Heart." Both classes spent weeks preparing for the trial, and the students did a fantastic job. A special thanks to the parents who participated as jury members (via Zoom)!

2021 Campus Update Appeal

Greetings Parishioners and School Families,

Here we are, at the end of 2020, and what a year it has been! I want to invite your support in helping accomplish two larger updates for our campus: a GPS Ionization System and an updated Dimming System for the interior lighting in our church building.

Campus-wide Ionization System - A GPS Ionization system is designed to improve air quality. This newer technology has demonstrated many benefits and is increasingly recommended by professionals. We would like to take advantage of this technology for our school and church facilities. Pollutants, dust, dander, pollen, smoke, and even pathogens such as mold, viruses and bacteria are often in the air we breathe, even when we don’t see them. Ionization technology safely creates and releases positive and negative ions into the airstream using an existing ventilation system. When these ions disperse throughout a space, they seek out and form bonds with particles in the air and they begin to cluster. The larger a cluster of particles becomes, the easier it is to safely filter it out of the air. This process is proven to be both safe and effective. The GPS Ionization System also reduces the need of outside air for our venting system which provides energy savings in addition to the above benefits.

This system’s benefits, while especially important now in the time of COVID-19, will have a lasting impact for our students and parishioners. We will be able to install these systems on our entire campus for less than $50,000.

Church Interior Light Dimming System - Over the year’s we have been replacing our lights within the church to utilize more energy efficient LED lights. Our current system is outdated and incompatible with LED lights. The plan to upgrade our dimming system was anticipated and we are now at a point to take action. The total cost of this replacement is $22,500.

Support - The total cost for Saint Rose to accomplish both of these projects will be approximately $70,000. With that being said, we are conscious that this year has brought hardship and financial challenges to many, and that not all of our parishioners are in a position to support these projects. For those who are in a position to donate, we would like to ask for your support. We will not host a Moonlight and Roses event this spring due to COVID and would invite those who typically sponsor or donate to consider this appeal instead.

Our Parish and School leadership, Finance Council and Building and Grounds Committee believe these projects are important and worth the investment. It is our hope to continue to provide our students and parishioners with a safe and holy atmosphere. Thank you for your prayerful consideration and support.

Your companion on the journey,
Fr. George

On January 3, 2021, Saint Rose, in conjunction with the Diocese of Toledo, will be promoting and featuring a 7 week program called The Search. Each episode will encourage us to reflect on things like; "What do you Seek?", “What is our Story”, "Why a God?", "Am I Saved?", “Who are you?”, “Who is Jesus?”, “Why a Church?”

These programs are focused on helping us reconnect with our family, friends, classmates, other parishioners and Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Do any of these situations or stories sound familiar?
  • You get the big promotion, but it doesn’t make you happy for more than a day or two.
  • You buy the fancy car, but the thrill is over by the time you pull into the garage.
  • Your team wins the Super Bowl… and all you have to show for it was an expensive jersey with someone else’s name on it.
  • The things we expect to fulfill us don’t…
  • Why is life this way?
  • Why are we here? Not just here in these bodies on this planet and in this year. But why do we exist?
  • Why are we filled with longing?

The Search is a multi-part video based spiritual experience from the producers of the FORMED online platform many of us use for faith formation at Saint Rose Parish. The productions are beautiful; none of this rec room or fake library feeling to it.

If your faith is already solid, The Search will help you to deepen it.
If you’re feeling unsure, it’s for you too.
If you’re worried about your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews it’s a great series for you to share with them.

The Search proclaims the Gospel in words that modern ears are ready to hear and images that modern eyes can’t help but see and remember. The Search features scientists, artists, philosophers, and other people from all walks of life proclaiming how their searches for meaning in life led them to Jesus and the Gospel. There’s nothing quite like it in the Catholic world.

The well-known Catholic evangelist Chris Stefanick hosts The Search. But The Search is not meant just to be watched . . . and it’s certainly not meant to be watched alone. That’s why we are beginning to form small groups – both in-person and virtual – to watch, discuss, and truly benefit and grow from experiencing The Search.

If you are thinking about having your baby Baptized, a child in the 2nd grade preparing for 1st Communion and Reconciliation FORMED has easy to understand programming just for you and your child.
