Dear Saint Rose Families,

You may notice that our second graders have extra shiny halos above their heads.  That is because they received the sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time last night.  The church was packed with families as Saint Rose School students and students from religious education gathered.  Fr. George, Fr. David and a team of priests presided and led our second graders through this sacrament.  Second grade is a big year for sacraments.  Later this year, students will celebrate their Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time. Thank you to Fr. George, Fr. David, Mrs. Johnson, Ms. Layman, Mrs.  Russo and our families for supporting our second graders through this faith formation.

Sincerely,
Bryon Borgelt

Letters From Haiti

Last year, our students wrote to students at Saint Rose School, our sister school in Haiti. Recently, those students returned the gesture and wrote back sharing their thanks and prayers for our students and school. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing these letters. Please take a minute to read.

Letter #7 Letter #8 Letter #9

Saint Rose School theme for the year:

Love Life!

November's theme is End of Life Issues --
Death, Euthanasia, and the Death Penalty

As the liturgical year draws to a conclusion, the church focuses on the "end time" as we start the month with the Feast of All Saints and All Souls.

This month we will focus on End of Life Issues -- Death, Sacrament of the Sick, Euthanasia, and the Death Penalty.

The Catholic Church's teaching on Life issues represents a "seamless garment" from conception to natural death.    Our respect for this great gift of life extends to end-of-life issues as well.  The Church teaches that euthanasia and physician-assisted death are morally wrong.   The cross shows us that there is value in redemptive suffering, and a compassionate approach is to ease suffering through palliative care.

EWTN interview regarding the Vatican's teaching on Euthanasia.

Charity of the month:
Saint Rose Cemetery Fund
(began by the school children two years ago)

This fund will be used to help with burial costs in the Saint Rose Cemetery for families with financial difficulties.  This is a corporal work of mercy to "Bury the Dead".

Please encourage your children to be generous in their donations
at the weekly school Masses.

In the wake of the last 2 hurricanes, we had to cancel over 200 blood drives in their paths, accounting for over 7200 pints of blood that went uncollected.  The red Cross is going into the holiday season with an expectation to be 124,000 pints of blood short by January. Currently, there is less than a 3 day supply at our hospitals.  Please donate if you are able.  For eligibility questions call 866-236-3276.
