Dear Saint Rose Families,
Saint Rose will postpone our January 31 Open House. We are looking at dates later this winter or early spring. Families will be required to sign up for visitation times, just like we did for Meet the Teacher at the start of the school year. Open House provides a wonderful experience for prospective and current families to visit their future classrooms. The purpose in moving back the date is to hopefully provide this event after our faculty and staff have had the chance to be vaccinated.
Saint Rose is working with the Wood County Health Department to provide the COVID vaccine to our faculty and staff as teachers and support staff are eligible to receive the vaccine under the 1B phase of vaccinations. The first round will likely take place sometime in February. Please anticipate that we may take the day off school to vaccinate the faculty and staff.
The health department is also working with schools to understand and identify how the slight changes to the quarantine guidelines impact each school. These guidelines deal only with in-school contacts when students are wearing masks. Students that have contact with someone positive with COVID outside of school, including but not limited to after school activities, sports, their homes, etc. still need to quarantine out of school for 14 days. Preschool does not have any changes. K-8 students exposed at school can now attend class but will need to be quarantined during snack time, lunch time, gym and recess. They will also have to quarantine outside of school for 14 days. Families can still opt to have their child spend the 14 days at home.
The greatest number of exposures and students in quarantine come from contacts outside of school. Those exposures from outside of school will still need to quarantine outside of school for 14 days.
The health department restated that COVID is not spreading due to contacts within schools. The safety protocols that Saint Rose and other schools put in place provide safe learning environments.
Please reach out to me with any questions at 419.874.5631.
Sincerely,
Dr. Borgelt
Volunteers Needed!
Saint Rose is looking for parent volunteers to help with the faculty and staff COVID vaccine distribution.
We will need assistance with registration and check out, as well as a few medically trained individuals to administer the vaccine and observe recipients afterwards.
Please click the link below to access the Google Form questionnaire if interested in volunteering. Thank you!
In response to the challenge of "How can we help build the Kingdom of God on Earth," two eighth grade boys have developed a note-writing campaign for residents at the Ursuline Center in Toledo. The Ursuline Sisters staffed Saint Rose School for many decades.
After researching the needs of the elderly and interviewing a psychiatrist, the boys created an electronic "sign-up" for parishioners and school families to commit to writing a letter to a resident at the Ursuline Center. Residents currently include 22 Ursuline and Notre Sisters, one priest-in-residence, and three Ursuline Associates.
Volunteers can sign up to send a cheerful note through the postal service, and an electronic reminder will be sent to the volunteer. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for multiple weeks.
Let's flood the mailbox of the Ursuline Center with notes of love and encouragement for the months of January through April! Extra slots can be added as needed.
Thank you for sharing God's love through the mail!
