ATTENTION ALL STAFF

NO PARKING AND ENTRANCE ACCESS

If you are parked on Thome Ave., Please come immediately to remove your vehicle or it will be towed, due to the construction on Thome Ave. There is no parking on Thome Ave til October 16.

Access to Thome Reception will also be restricted through Monday. To get into the building, please enter through the Norkett or Main Entrance.

IMPORTANT REMINDER

STAFF ID

Wearing your staff ID is critical for many reasons:

  • Swiping in and out every shift worked ensures your time is accurately documented.
  • Swiping in and out improves efficiencies for payroll.
  • Swiping ensures you can access buildings in case of an active threat.

In addition, the expectation is that if you need to complete an edit slip, it must be completed at the time of arrival with your supervisor.

We appreciate your cooperation!

CHICAGO PAID SICK LEAVE AND CHICAGO PAID LEAVE

This is a reminder for part-time and full-time employees hired prior to 7/1/2024 that your CPSL and CPL hours will stop accruing for the current accrual year in November or until you reach 40 hours for the benefit year. Accrual of Chicago hours (CPSL + CPL) will resume again on 7/1/2025.

For relief staff hired prior to 7/1/2024, you will continue to accrue 1 hour of CPSL and 1 hour of CPL per every 35 hours worked until you have accrued a total of 40 hours in a 12-month period. Accrual of Chicago hours (CPSL + CPL) will resume again on 7/1/2025.

For full-time and part-time staff hired after 7/1/2024, you will continue to accrue 4 hours of CPSL and 4 hours of CPL every pay period for the first 10 pay periods following your date of hire or until you have accrued a total of 40 hours for the benefit year. Your accrual of Chicago hours will begin again on the anniversary of your hire date.

For relief staff hired after 7/1/2024, you will accrue 1 hour of CPSL and 1 hour of CPL per every 35 hours worked starting from your date of hire until you have accrued a total of 40 hours in a 12-month period. Your accrual of Chicago hours will begin again on the anniversary of your hire date.

Please take the time to review your buckets and plan to use your available hours wisely. Proper planning will ensure that your unplanned absences are covered.

Keep in mind that in order for an unplanned absence or a tardy to be covered, you must use CPSL and/ CPL hours or Mis Sick Bank hours if you have them.

Mis PTO can be used to schedule planned time off in advance, this is considered planned time off and not an absence. CPSL and CPL hours can be used to excuse an absence if you need to take unplanned time off (the use of CPSL hours must fall within the parameters allowed).

While Mis PTO may be used to schedule time off in advance. It does not excuse an unplanned absence or tardy. Mis PTO used for tardies or to cover a call off will be considered unexcused. Mis PTO Exception: Unless protected by an approved FMLA or other protected leave, the absence is then excused.

Hello Staff,

Once again this year Fr. Jack, S. Rosemary and Lois are generously offering each staff one turkey to help you celebrate your Thanksgiving holiday.

Afterward, mark your calendar for Thursday, November 21 which will be the ONE DAY ONLY turkey pick-up date. It is your responsibility to write a note and ask a co-worker to pick up your turkey if you happen to be off that day. Again, this is a one-day-only Turkey Distribution Day.

MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS

Misericordia is upgrading the tool and processes around Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). MSDS information is an important part of the emergency processes here at Misericordia. They provide information on the different products used at Misericordia and how to handle exposure to these products.

In the past, paper copies of these sheets were maintained in each area. Recently we added electronic tools to support this. SDS Mobile is a web-based tool (with a mobile app as well) to look up MSDS for different products.

Misericordia is expanding our use of this tool to create a Misericordia-specific list of products. Currently, there is a link on the desktop (OnlineSDS) and a link on Misericordia iPads to this information.

It is also available via the SDS Mobile app. IT will provide additional information and procedures in the coming weeks to ensure staff have the information needed.

DHS: DAY PROGRAM RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION GRANT 2024

In Spring of this year, the Department of Human Services Day Program Retention Grant was designed to support recruitment and retention efforts in Day Services programs for DT and CDS staff only.  Misericordia was informed of our eligibility to use these funds for staff that are employed in the Day Services programs only.  As an organization, we were allowed to use some of the grant money to offset the annual performance bonuses, recruitment efforts and training. This left a portion of the grant unused. The parameters around how the funds may be used were strictly established by the grant requirements for the targeted audience.  Because we did not want to leave the remaining funds unused, they will be distributed in the form of a retention bonus to Day Services employees as outlined in the grant. Misericordia has provided increases and incentives across the board many times but this current grant does not allow for such an approach. It is important to note that Misericordia had nothing to do with this decision.  This guidance came from DHS and we were instructed to follow the guidelines.

Thank you in advance for understanding.
