CCRA Virtual Board of Directors Meeting

On Tuesday, February 9, CCRA held its monthly board meeting. A presentation was held at the beginning of the meeting regarding 2300 Market Street project. The board passed three resolutions; 1. supporting proposed street calming strategies at the intersection of 23rd and South Streets, 2. authorizing CCRA President Maggie Mund to enter into the Community Benefits Agreement for 2012 Chestnut Street, and 3. endorsing CCRA's Financial team to explore applying for another PPP loan. All documents are available on our website.
Got Quality of Center City Life Issues? CCRA is on the case.
Concerned with crime, assaults, vandalism, and aggressive panhandling, on Jan. 20 CCRA and many local businesses joined the Center City Coalition in sending a letter for action to the Mayor, City Council members, and Police Commissioner Outlaw. The Coalition is a 25-member group consisting of residents and local businesses and associations. The letter was well-received, and meetings have been scheduled with four separate Council members. Want to know what changes we’re fighting for? The letter can be found here.
New Development at 2012-18 Chestnut Street
For over a decade, there has been a notable sore spot in CCRAville. At 20th and Chestnut St., the vacant PHA headquarters has become grounds for vandalism, litter, and worse. Now, with thanks to the hard work of CCRA volunteers and Alterra Property, we look forward to a positive transformation for the property and block. This 162-unit apartment building, which will consist of 20% affordable workforce housing targeted towards working professionals, offers streetscape improvements and efficient building designs that we know will serve as bright spots for CCRA in the years to come. Want the scoop? Read the Community Benefits Agreement.
Office Closure
In observance of the Presidents' Day holiday, CCRA is closed Monday, February 15. In addition, the office will be closed on Tuesday February 16. The office will reopen on Wednesday, February 17.
Trash Collection
In observance of the Presidents' Day holiday, no trash will be collected on Monday, February 15. Collection will resume on Tuesday, February 16.
Wanted Now: Board Member Candidates
CCRA is looking to fill several Board seats for our fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021. Board members generally serve a term of 3 years. The Board is a working Board. We are seeking CCRA members who have a passion for living in “CCRAville;” are interested in issues of quality of life and community service; and are committed to active Board participation. Successful candidates must serve on at least one committee and agree to fulfill the responsibilities set forth in our Board Pledge, which includes devoting at least four hours per month on CCRA activities, not including time spent attending, and preparing for, monthly Board meetings. Click for full Board Pledge and List of Committees.

Interested members are encouraged to forward a statement of interest that includes a summary of qualifications, as well as a resume or bio, by Friday, March 19 to:, with "Board Candidate" in the subject line. (We also welcome your suggestion of any individuals who reside in CCRAville who you believe would be assets to the Board. Be sure to include their email address and/or phone number.)
Help ensure equity in the City of Philadelphia's budget priorities
On April 15, Mayor Kenney will propose a budget to City Council for the coming fiscal year, starting July 1, 2021. Due to COVID-19, the City is facing difficult budget choices this year - e.g., fewer resources than in the past but know that Philadelphians have more needs than ever before. Before the City finishes drafting the budget, they want to hear from you - how the City should focus its spending?
