Montco Home for All initiative

The County’s Home for All initiative focuses on enhancing housing affordability in Montgomery County. The initiative is preparing to take its next steps and a RFP has been released. The RFP is essentially a communications/marketing/branding plan developed by the County’s Office of Housing and Community Development to help do the following:

  1. Planning – work with the Homes For All leadership team and map out how to brand, message, and discuss Affordable Housing to target audiences (municipalities, neighbors, taxpayers, HOAs, real estate professionals, local business owners). As you know, the phrase “Affordable Housing” has a ton of stigma. How do we talk about Affordable Housing in a way that won’t get people on the defensive immediately?
  2. Products – help us develop marketing materials to provide to said target audiences (once the messaging work is done), like lawn signs, inclusive zoning how-to brochures, and powerpoint presentations for municipalities to encourage them to allow affordable housing developments
  3. Website – Homes For All website development to live under the Your Way Home website, with data, product information, and ways to formally fund and/or partner on the Homes For All initiative

The RFP can be found on the County’s Bonfire portal at this link - https://montcopa.bonfirehub.com/opportunities/66315
CommonGoods Initiative

Montgomery County Commerce Department would like to share information about a new state initiative - CommonGoods. This is a unique opportunity for small businesses to expand their footprint while giving consumers the chance to shop “local” from wherever they might be. CommonGoods will expand markets, grow sales, increase sustainability, and help PA local shops and stores thrive. Registering in the directory is easy at commongoods.pa.gov. Visit the website to see if your small business meets the program criteria.
Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program

Montgomery County has updated masking guidance to be in alignment with DCD. masking is now optional in most County buildings and facilities. The CDC’s new guidance outlines COVID-19 prevention and mitigation strategies at each level. The public can use local data and updated information about the CDC’s new guidance at the CDC’s COVID-19 Community Levels website to determine steps they should take based on their personal risk level and local COVID-19 levels.

Montgomery County Recovery Office
NOW ACCEPTING FEEDBACK/PRE-PROPOSALS FOR FUNDING

The Montgomery County Recovery Office has been created to manage $161 million in funds the County will receive through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). By listening to our residents, community partners, researching best practices and leveraging other resources, we will create impactful initiatives, investments and infrastructure improvements that will have long-term, measurable and sustainable impact.
The Recovery Office is interested in collecting your input and ideas, and welcome you to help shape a rejuvenated Montgomery County. Now through April 30, 2022, the office is accepting pre-proposals through a web portal. If you would like to provide feedback regarding the ARPA funds or sign-up for future updates, please click here to launch the form in a new window.
Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program

Older and disabled Pennsylvanians can apply now for rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2021.
The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, widows and widowers age 50 and older, and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters, and half of Social Security income is excluded.
After checking eligibility requirements, you can file your rebate application online by visiting mypath.pa.gov. Submitting your application online does not require you to sign up for an account. You can check the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program instruction booklet to learn which information you will need to complete the process.
Student Loan Relief for Nurses

Applications are being accepted through March 1 for the new Student Loan Relief for Nurses program.
Qualified nurses working through the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible to receive student loan relief of up to $2,500 for each year of work (beginning with 2020) for up to three years, with a maximum benefit of $7,500.
The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency indicates the high volume of applications has slowed the review process, and online applications are not offered. You can learn more about the program and the application process here.
FREE COVID Testing Kits

Households in Pennsylvania can order up to four free rapid antigen coronavirus tests beginning Wednesday with the launch of a federal government website — covidtests.gov — to help ease a nationwide shortage of the tests.

FREE N95 Masks
400 million N95 masks will be available for free to all Americans beginning the end of this week. The masks will be released from the Strategic National Stockpile and will be available for pickup at local community health centers and pharmacies.
3rd Dose Pfizer & Mederna Vaccine Available

COVID-19 vaccines are available to everyone age 12 and over! The three COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the US (Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J) have been rigorously tested and shown to be highly safe and highly effective in both laboratory and real-world settings. To date, more than half a million Montco residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while over 3.6 billion doses have been administered worldwide.
Getting vaccinated can help keep your family, friends, community – and yourself – safe. It’s also the best way to end the pandemic and ensure a lasting return to normalcy.
Note: The Montgomery County Office of Public Health is now accepting appointments for a third dose of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for immunocompromised individuals. For a list of qualifying conditions, click here.
Have questions about the COVID-19 vaccines or how the vaccination process works? Check out our FAQ page for more details.
