At Tuesday’s Vestry Meeting the Vestry:
- Decided to send parishioners cards to encourage returning to Sunday worship.
- Heard that the Sunday’s worship (11/22) will be in the breezeway, and be Morning Prayer with a pre-recorded sermon by Bishop Sumner.
- Heard that Stewardship Pledge Cards are due this Sunday (11/22).
- Heard that next Sunday’s worship (11/29) will be back inside the church with, God willing, Fr. Nick preaching and celebrating.
- Heard that Greenville’s Community Thanksgiving service has been cancelled due to the rise in COVID-19 cases (especially involving local pastors).
- Heard that St. Paul’s Advent Program will be Ravi Zacharias’ “Jesus among other gods: The Absolute Claims of the Christian Message.” The three sessions will be on Thursday evening beginning with dinner on Thursday 12/3 at 6:00 pm.
- Heard that background checks are underway for Vestry members.

Heard some of the details of the trial of Bishop Love (Diocese of Albany) as reflected upon by the Bishop of Springfield, Dan Martins (https://livingchurch.org/covenant/2020/11/12/on-bishop-love/).
- Heard that at the Diocesan Convention on November 7th that parish assessments will be reduced by 1%, and there will be no assessment due in January 2021.
- Heard that despite St. Joseph Guild being on virus hiatus, the tasks of cleaning and ongoing repair of the church and school continue unabated.
- Heard that the Roof Repair Fund stands at $34,660.
- Decided to continue the tradition of giving the school staff and teachers a Christmas ham.
- Heard that Jennifer Faunce has resigned as the School Administrator.
- Heard proposed Bylaw changes concerning the Special Vestry meeting that follows the Annual meeting.
- Heard that regular income for October was $7,119.49, and the expenses were $16,146.08, making October a loss of $9,026.59.

The courage to die for their beliefs is given only to those who have had the courage to live for them. The final victory over their terror of pain and physical death is the last of a thousand victories and defeats in the war which is fought daily and hourly in the human mind and soul: the war in the overcoming of self. Dissected and examined in detail this is a most unglamorous battle and to the outsider seems absurd; but it is the constant denying of the natural human urge to stay in bed longer than necessary, to eat or drink more than is justifiable, to be intolerant of the stupid, and to accumulate more than a fair share of this world’s goods, that makes possible the gradual freeing of the human spirit.

From Paul in his first letter to the church at Corinth: “For we are God’s fellow workers… “ (1. Cor. 3:9). Elsewhere, Paul mentions that we are “working together with him… “ (2 Cor. 6:1). God is at work in your life and around the world, and you have the privilege of participating in his work. Stewardship is the time to think about what you can give back with thanksgiving; the many blessings God has given you.

Putting Fear In Its Place
“It’s strange: it’s as if the whole world is now feeling what I’ve been feeling for years.” A friend was telling me about her fear of getting sick. She tried hard, for instance, to avoid being around children with runny noses and coughs. She washed her hands compulsively. She brushed her teeth several times a day. Not liking being this way, she even tried to get herself not to wash her hands!
Where does such a fear come from? There is never certainty, but one has one’s guesses. Fear does attach itself to some facet of reality: germs really are carried around on our hands, and regular, thorough washing does get rid of some of them. Yet fear of the sort that one carries around goes deeper than that.
Along comes a virus, the Blasted Nasty Virus, and as on a dime everyone started learning again about hand-washing: twenty seconds, with friction, between fingers, both palms and the backs of the hands. She had been doing it, and things like it, for years.
But more than that, she had been learning to deal with fear. If it’s there, you can’t tell it to go away; it doesn’t work to tell yourself not to be afraid. But you can learn to live with fear, and not let it have its way with you. You can learn to act even though you have fear. You can learn to put fear in its place. (continue reading)

The Daughters of the King support your prayer needs and wishes. Each Sunday a prayer team will be available to pray with you after the Worship Service in the choir area after the 10:30 service. If you would like additional information, please see a DOK member.
They also have a intercessory prayer box on the table in the Narthex to deposit prayer requests. Prayer request cards may be found in the pews and beside the box in the Narthex. Daughters pray daily. All prayers are confidential. Each person is prayed for one month. If you wish for continued prayers, please complete another request card or contact a Daughter.
You may call the church office (903-455-5030) and specify it is for the DOK intercessory prayer list. You can hand the card to a Daughter (she is always wearing her cross).
