Dear Friends in Christ,
Many of you have been asking about our plans to resume public worship and other gatherings as a parish in the days and weeks ahead. As North Carolina prepares to enter into a modified 'Phase 2' of restrictions, many restaurants, stores, and other places of business will begin to re-open with limited capacity.
The Diocese of Western North Carolina's suspension of public worship and other gatherings remains in effect.
In the coming days, Bishop McLoughlin intends to issue new guidelines for parishes as we enter the next chapter of our response to COVID-19. Once the Bishop's guidelines have been released, I will write to you with more information about our way forward as a parish. Know that our Vestry, along with leaders from across our diocese, are working hard to make the wisest and safest choices for our common good.
Above all, know that our mission and ministry as the body of Christ continues in this season. Let us continue to hold one another close in prayer in these days!
Faithfully,
Andrew+

Sorrow & Joy in our Parish

George Van Nuys, beloved parishioner of St. Mary of the Hills, died Thursday, May 14th at his home in Boone. A burial service will be held at a later date. We pray for George's spouse, Ron, and for the Van Nuys and Tharp families as they mourn.
As we become aware of births and deaths connected to the life of our parish community, this will be a space to share those announcements, as we have permission, so that we can pray for and support one another amidst all life's seasons. Please contact Fr. Andrew to share announcements of birth or death connected to your family.
