New Formation Offering beginning Wednesday, September 29!

Four weeks of classes, offered via Zoom, will look at some of our associations with food and with faith. At our first gathering we will bring a recipe, a kitchen tool, a movie or short story reference by which we will introduce ourselves to each other. The second week we will look at the book of Esther and the pivotal meal in her story. Then on week three we will watch the woman with the alabaster jar interrupt a dinner party. The fourth and final week will look at the meal of Jesus and his disciples which has shaped our worship. Woven throughout will be our own stories and the echoes of other table times with Jesus and the people of God. his four-week session is led by the Rev’d Dr. Linda Privitera, an artist, a teacher, a writer, a free-range chicken priest who frequently offers classes and retreats in the US and Canada. Bread of Life Program
25 years ago, St Mary’s started the Bread of Life Program with one team serving one dinner a month to Hospitality House. Hospitality House is the homeless shelter serving a seven country area of the High Country which includes Watauga County. Approximately 20 to 30 meals were served. In 2021 over 6,000 meals will be prepared by 5 teams. During the Covid pandemic, the Bread of Life teams have continued to serve the community by dropping off meals or purchasing meals from Farm Café’. The need continues to grow and more volunteers are needed to join a team. It is one day a month; a small time commitment that serves so many. It is truly an act of love. Please contact me 828-355-9751, and I will put you in contact with a team leader.
