During the month of May, we celebrate Mother’s Day, and with that in mind, we’d like to place focus on our mothers this month. We thank every mom in our city for the love, support, and guidance that they give not only to their household but also to their community. Raising our children is a full-time job that requires patience, love, and nurturing. As they prepare the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and doers, they need our support and unwavering respect. Motherhood is a position that does not take vacations or sick time but puts aside personal aches and pains to ensure that all is well within the home before laying down to rest. To all our moms, we revere you and thank you for all you do!

As we welcome May, the flowers are blooming once again, the weather is getting warmer, and families are ready to put aside the memories of another winter and enjoy the community activities planned for the Queen City. Children and adults are back for tennis lessons; families are eagerly planning their Mother’s Day celebrations, and cyclists from all over the world will soon meet on Watchung Avenue to participate in the NJ State Cycling Championship. Plainfield is bustling with the energy that only Spring can bring, and there are fun and exciting opportunities to get in community spirit and enjoy all that Plainfield has to offer. Durante el mes de mayo, celebramos el Día de la Madre y, con eso en mente, nos gustaría centrarnos en nuestras madres este mes. Agradecemos a todas las mamás de nuestra ciudad por el amor, el apoyo y la orientación que brindan no solo a su hogar sino también a su comunidad. Criar a nuestros hijos es un trabajo de tiempo completo que requiere paciencia, amor y cariño. Mientras preparan a la próxima generación de líderes, pensadores y emprendedores, necesitan nuestro apoyo y respeto inquebrantable. La maternidad es una posición que no toma vacaciones ni tiempo por enfermedad, sino que deja de lado los dolores y molestias personales para asegurarse de que todo esté bien dentro del hogar antes de acostarse a descansar. ¡A todas nuestras mamás, las reverenciamos y les agradecemos por todo lo que hacen!

On Thursday, May 4th, Plainfield residents filled the first floor of the Plainfield Public Library as the Department of Economic Development's Cannabis Unit hosted their Cannabis Job Fair. The event featured a presentation on the importance of developing the cannabis industry in Plainfield, networking opportunities, and cannabis business rotations.

Representing the cannabis retail, manufacturing, and cultivation industry were Royal M LLC, Island Vibez, Kota Canna, Leaf Relief NJ LLC, Mollitiam NJ LLC, and Clade9.

In attendance were Cannabis Zoning Officer Ernest Bennett, Economic Development Director Zenobia Fields, City Council President Charles McRae, and Mayor Adrian O. Mapp among other city officials as Plainfield continued its mission of advancing opportunities and partnerships for residents in exciting new industries.
