In October our Moderator, Kathy Book, announced to the congregation that the Executive Committee had authorized a search for a third-called clergy position, an Associate Minister for Mission. The search is underway and the hope is to present a candidate to the Congregation by April 2027, with a start date of August 2027. The Moderator has appointed a search committee consisting of David Hindman (chair), Judy Varty, Dennis Hemond, Karyn Murphy, Diane Myers, Mike Conrad, and Larry Rambo. The position is now being advertised in a number of publications where likely candidates will be able to see it and apply.

In addition, the position is also being advertised on the homepage of the Naples UCC website: https://www.naplesucc.org. It appears on a rotating banner, which includes the Church Profile, with the job description. Applicants will be able to submit their application via the website.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Often the best source of candidates comes from congregation itself! We have a congregation that comes from all parts of the country and from various church backgrounds. You may well be aware of someone you feel is ideal for this position. If so, we recommend you contact that person and refer them to the banner on the church’s website. If that person expresses interest, then please also send an email to David Hindman, advising the name of your referral, that way, we can have an eye out for the application.

Candidates are not limited to UCC ministers. Ministers of other denominational traditions will be considered. In addition, the Executive Committee directed that a candidate should be considered if they have significant experience with mission work, and a BA degree but lack a degree in ministry.

NOVEMBER 10, 10:00 AM | NELSON HALL 207

Drawing parallels to magicians’ misdirection and the tobacco industry’s tactics, it’s an eye-opening, well-crafted, and often infuriating look at manufactured doubt.
