Save Local Business Act Introduced in Congress

On July 14, U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-KY) introduced the long-awaited Save Local Business Act, legislation that would permanently protect local franchised businesses by codifying the appropriate joint employer standard, ensuring they can remain locally owned and operated Main Street businesses.

Dig deeper: IFA supports this legislation, which is a critical step toward a permanent joint employer solution. In a letter last week, IFA joined 72 business organizations in support for the bill.

Our thought bubble: After four changes to the federal joint employer standard in the last decade, a clear and consistent standard of joint employer is essential to the nation’s 831,000 franchise small businesses – and remains IFA’s top priority.

Franchisee Survey Closes Friday!

There are three days left for franchisees to make their voices heard! IFA’s Value of Franchising survey closes Friday, July 18, so please take 10 minutes to provide critical insights about your business.

Why it matters: As IFA gears up for a forthcoming Advocacy Summit, it is critical that we come armed with data about the value of franchising so policymakers have a clear and accurate picture of the impact you have on their states and districts.

What’s next: We have received over 2,400 responses to date – and need to hear from hundreds more to ensure all industries are well represented. If you’re a franchisee, you can help by taking the survey. If you’re a franchisor or supplier, please distribute this link to your networks.

What the One Big Beautiful Bill Means for Franchising

With the One Big Beautiful Bill signed into law, IFA wants to help you understand what this new law means for your business.

Why it matters: The bill includes a litany of franchise-focused provisions, including: the 199A deduction, the estate tax exemption, bonus depreciation, business interest deduction and no tax on tips and overtime. Read “5 Things Franchisees Need to Know” about the Big Beautiful Bill here.

What’s next: Stay tuned for upcoming member briefings on the topic to unpack what the provisions mean for you and how to take advantage.

Register Today for the IFA Advocacy Summit!

The IFA Advocacy Summit is less than two months away, and your attendance is more important than ever as we go on offense to protect franchising for the long haul.

Why it matters: Lawmakers need to hear directly from their constituents about your business and the policy impacts their decisions have on local business owners.

What’s next: Speakers will be announced in the coming weeks. Register today and bring your franchisees, colleagues, and friends in franchising.
