Happy Thanksgiving!

On behalf of Pastor Richardson and Grace Baptist Church, we would like to wish you and your loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving.  This is a time of reflection, as we contemplate the many ways God has showed up on our  behalf, provided for us and sustained us through the year. As we engage in the holiday festivities and feast, let us be mindful of those who are less fortunate than we are and extend our tables to them by providing a dish from our tables for the Thanksgiving Community Outreach Dinner today from 1 PM to 4 PM in the Levistor Doles Banquet Hall at Grace. God bless you and be safe during this holiday.

Growing in Discipleship
"December Small Group Discussion"

December Scripture:  Luke 2:1-20 (NIV)

Focus Verses 16-19:

"So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.  When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,  and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart."

Discussion Guide:

 "When I Think About the Lord"

Focusing in on the verses presented during this Advent Season, your small group is asked to meditate on the many ways God has showed up in your lives amazing you and those around you?  How did people respond to the promises of God being fulfilled in your life?  How did you respond to God's faithfulness to God's Word in your own life?  Why do you think we should observe the reason why Mary pondered what was happening around her and treasured it in her heart?  What does her response teach us about our fulfilled promises that we may have overlooked or not have considered before?

Women's Ministry
The Women's Ministry will have their Annual Christmas Outreach on Saturday, December the 14, 2013, from 1 PM to 4 PM.  They will be collecting toys, gift cards, and monetary donations over the next 6 weeks after every worship service.  When submitting donations that you have purchased, please include on the gift whether it is for a girl or boy and the age group.  In order to receive instructions on dropping off your gifts, or if you would like to volunteer your services on the day of the outreach, please contact Lisa Randolph at freeatlastlee@yahoo.com or call 914-613-8233.

Christmas Outreach Dinner
Christmas is fast approaching us once again and it is time for Grace to be a blessing to those who are unable to afford a Christmas Dinner or do not have loved ones to share the holiday with.  On Wednesday, December 25th, we will have our Annual Christmas Outreach Dinner at Grace in the Levister-Doles Banquet Hall from 1 PM to 4 PM.  Grace is asking members to take a dish that would be present at your family table at home and bring in to share with the community who is less fortunate or experiencing loneliness in this season. Please fill out a form at the church's front desk in the weeks to come to indicate what you will contribute to the outreach dinner.

Word of Encouragement

"Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
    tell of all his wonderful acts.
Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.

 Remember the wonders he has done,
    his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
    you his servants, the descendants of Israel,
    his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
He is the Lord our God;
    his judgments are in all the earth.

He remembers his covenant forever,
    the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
    the covenant he made with Abraham,
    the oath he swore to Isaac.
He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,
    to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
 "To you I will give the land of Canaan
    as the portion you will inherit."

When they were but few in number,
    few indeed, and strangers in it,
 they wandered from nation to nation,
    from one kingdom to another.

 He allowed no one to oppress them;
    for their sake he rebuked kings:
"Do not touch my anointed ones;
    do my prophets no harm."

Sing to the Lord, all the earth;
    proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
    he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols,
    but the Lord made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
    strength and joy are in his dwelling place.

Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations,
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    bring an offering and come before him.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
Tremble before him, all the earth!
The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
    let them say among the nations, "The Lord reigns!"
Let the sea resound, and all that is in it;
    let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!
Let the trees of the forest sing,
    let them sing for joy before the Lord,
    for he comes to judge the earth.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.
Cry out, "Save us, God our Savior;
    gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
    and glory in your praise."
Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting.
