Weekly Headlines --------------------------------------------- Week of July 6, 2020
Only a World-Wide Pandemic Could Keep Us From You!
Since 1981, the Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival has been the annual kick-off to summer in the East Bay. We have seen six Presidents, economic recessions (and recoveries), the first space shuttle launch, blistering heat, and torrential downpour. The only thing that would keep us from kicking off summer with you in 2020 would be a world-wide pandemic. Not possible, right?

We had all been so optimistic in March when postponing our dates, that life would return to normal by August. Sadly, for reasons we are now all too familiar, the 39th annual Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival has been canceled. The good news? We are already at work planning for the June 2021 festival!

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of our amazing sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and loyal attendees for their steadfast support over the years. You really are the best!

Stay safe and healthy. See you next year!
A Big Dose of Self Care
& Optimism
The East Bay Women's Conference Committee kicked off their Beyond the Conference: Staying Connected webinar series with a big dose of self-care and optimism. The session, “Ignite Your Optimism In Times of Stress,” was presented by Kristin Lincoln , Founder, LiveWire Consulting in Walnut Creek. Marcie Hochhauser, Chamber SVP / EBWC Founder, led the interactive session of 150 attendees who participated in the complimentary event.

Lincoln acknowledged that the feelings of uncertainty, fear, and stress most of us have been feeling these past few months are understandable. After explaining how our brains work when faced with fear-based emotions, she shared practical tools to prevent spiraling downward and exercises that move negative thinking into positive action. The Paycheck Protection Program resumed accepting applications July 6, 2020 in response to the Paycheck Protection Program Extension Act. The new deadline to apply for a Paycheck Protection Program loan is August 8, 2020.  We are calling on Congress  to extend the deadline to December 31, 2020, to make all loans under $150,000 automatically forgivable and to allow business owners to apply for a second round of funding when their first loan runs out. | SBA PPP   EZ Forgiveness Application  (PDF)
