We pray for...
  • civil discourse grounded in respect;
  • refugees, immigrants and those without a home.
  • The search for a new bishop and rector: Merciful God giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a bishop for this Diocese and a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Note to the Community,
stone-cross.jpg
We were notified by her daughter Linda that former parishioner Eva B. Pearson passed away on Monday. Please keep Eva and her family in your prayers.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Eva. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive her into the arms of your mercy into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and unto the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.
Update from Christy -
Dear People of St. Stephens,

Tomorrow will be my last day working at St. Stephen's!

I appreciate the opportunity to work alongside and for you all and for the endless support you have shown me these last 7 years.

I am remaining in the valley and am sure our paths will cross again, so rather than goodbye, I will just be saying until next time.

Blessings,
Christy
School Supply Drive
school_supplies.jpg
St. Stephen's is sponsoring a school supply drive for children Griffith Elementary in the Balsz School District in which St. Stephen's is located.
Griffith serves a low income population that would benefit from receiving all sorts of supplies, including: backpacks, notebooks, notebook paper, book covers, boxes of pencils, pens, colored pencils, colored markers, or crayons; pencil boxes or 'pouches', rulers, scissors, glue sticks, spiral notebooks, erasers, dry erase markers, three-prong folders and pocket folders.

The 'School Supply Drive' will run through August 12 and a "donation" box will be located outside the church and in the lobby. We have folks who are happy to go shopping so if you'd prefer to donate money, just note it's for school supplies in the memo.

Thank you for sharing from your abundance to help meet the needs of our neighbors!
Our Food Bank needs your help!
Summer in the valley is always tough as our neighbors are trying to make ends meet when temperatures rise. As a result, the cupboards in our food bank are bare! Any nonperishable food donations would be appreciated as we attempt to refill our stock. Items especially requested include peanut butter, cereal, pasta and sauce!
New Office Hours

Office hours for the time being will be Monday - Thursday 9am-12pm   and other times by appointment - please call ahead of your visit during this period of transition to ensure someone will be here .
St. Stephen's Music Survey
hand_holding_note.jpg
We are saddened that David Zych has decided to use his musical talents at a location different from St. Stephen's. We are also very pleased that we were able to enjoy and benefit from his musical talents the past several years. He has most certainly enhanced our worship services. As your Vestry considers future music for our worship services, we would like your opinion on different music possibilities.

Please click here to take a brief survey regarding the music preferences you'd like to see at St. Stephen's as we look to replace David as organist & choirmaster. We will have paper copies available over the weekend, please return/take the surveys by August 1st.
Welcome Kelly!
Help us welcome Kelly Nurenberg, who will be filling in as pianist this Sunday!

Adult Education Suggestions?!
We will be finishing up our current adult education topic on July 22nd. If you have any suggestions for potential future topics you'd like to learn about, please let Fr. Harry know in person or via email!
A note from Lyle:

Volunteers Wanted!
The Balsz Elementary School District, which includes St. Stephen's, is seeking volunteers for it Restorative Justice Center. Arthur Montoya, the center's director, will train volunteers to serve as mediators in the Balsz schools. The mediators will spend 3-4 hours per week helping students to be held accountable for their actions and help them to learn to restore relationships with fellow students, teachers, and the community peacefully. Please contact Vic Grace at 602.463.8044 if you wish to help Arthur continue his efforts to keep all students working together in our local schools. He will notify you when the one day training will be conducted.
Summer Pictures!

Each summer we include pictures of your adventures in our weekly highlights!

Send in your pictures this summer so we can see what folks in our community are up to outside of Saturday nights or Sunday mornings!

Happy Summer and safe travels to all!

We aspire to be an accepting community in which people will know Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, spiritual formation and fellowship. We hope our community will encourage all to use their God given gifts to serve others in the name of Christ.

Faithfully,

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
