We have returned from Lee County, Virginia, where we joined with 70 other people representing 5 congregations from New York, Ohio, and North Carolina. The week was a valuable learning experience for all of us, in addition to being a life-altering week of serving others. We learned much, gave much, and left our hearts with our respective families.
Four of us (Tom and Allana Condon, Aidan Waller, Mother Carol) worked with Ms. Sally and her six year old twin grandsons to complete the work on a back porch and to transform a storage area into a bedroom for the twins; five of us (Lisa and Sam Dalsimer, Paul and Isaiah Shikany, Abby Rosenstock) worked with Ms. Judy to lay a new roof.
You'll be hearing a lot about our trip, the Appalachia Service Project, and our desire to lend some support to our families in meeting some immediate needs that cannot be addressed by the ASP program.
We are also hopeful many of you will want to join us next year when we return to Appalachia to take on new challenges.
Once again, thank you to all of you who provided food, financial support, and prayers. We are so very grateful.
