WEEKLY UPDATE | Innovation @ Georgia Tech
We don't think we have ever been this excited for the last two weeks of Fall! Our Georgia Tech students have shared with us so many of their innovative ideas and this week some of them will be showcased at the various Expos across campus. The fun doesn't stop there, innovators across campus have several opportunities to receive funding for their ideas. Explore a few of those options in this week's Innovation Update.

Since the conclusion of the 2019 InVenture Prize, team TremorTrainer has continued to develop their intuitive, weighted glove to reduce tremors in the hands of patients.

Competitions
Team MagTrack from Georgia Tech won Atlanta’s 2019 TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) Pitch Competition (University level) at both the local and global level. Georgia Tech swept the 2018 competition with team Atramento placing first, team Oculus Prime placing second, and team Lunula Health placing third. You could be next!

Open to both undergraduate and graduate students, we encourage you to nominate yourself.

Monetary prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winning teams of the final competition in April 2019 will be awarded at $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 respectively per team.

The winning team receives an all-expenses paid trip to TiECON Silicon Valley, California.

Submission Deadline : Wednesday, December 18
ALL undergraduate students are invited to register for the InVenture Prize competition! Student teams will work on perfecting their pitch, developing their product or service, while being paired with mentors. Monetary prizes for 1st, 2nd and People's Choice winning teams of the final competition on March 11, 2020 will be awarded at $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.

Prizes also including patent filings of up to $20,000 for 1st and 2nd place. The 1st place winner is also automatically accepted into CREATE-X Startup Launch program.

Funding Opportunities
"The E-Team program supports multidisciplinary student-led teams working together with faculty to bring their innovation out of the lab and into the market." Each year over $700,000 is given to early-stage student science and tech startups who are working on innovations that will have a positive impact within the areas of social, health or environmental.

Teams of 2 or more + faculty advisor can apply for up to $25,000 in funding in 2 stages.
  • stage 1 - teams can unlock $5,000 to launch your venture
  • stage 2 - teams can unlock $20,000 to launch your venture

As part of this grant program student teams receive grant funding, sponsored training, networking & mentorship, and national exposure & recognition. Open to undergraduate and graduate students.
