SX's Spring 2020 Pitch Competition Save your spot for the Spring 2020 Pitch Competition where startups will compete for cash prizes and fight to be named "Startup Exchange Champion." The entire competition will be held online and will be packed with teams that have been working to create companies to tackle some of the country’s biggest challenges to date. We will have a panel of judges with decades of experience in Entrepreneurship and Tech that include Rahul Saxena and Blanca Catalina Garcia .   Open to everyone! Upcoming Funding Opportunities

TiE Launches ACCESS In order to help close the mentoring and funding gap for women- and minority-owned businesses in the Southeast TiE Atlanta is launching ACCESS, an entrepreneurship program created by TiE Atlanta Angels. To be eligible the startup " must be in the Early Stage, Seed, or Seed+ funding stage; at least one female or minority founder/cofounder, pre or post revenue and more. " The business that places first receives an angel investment of $50,000 and the opportunity to present at TiECON Atlanta 2020. Deadline: Friday, May 15

The Red Backpack Fund The Spanx by Sara Blakely Foundation has donated $5 million and has teamed up with GlobalGiving to support female entrepreneurs during the COVID-19 pandemic. MasterClass has also provided "GlobalGiving will be overseeing the fund, making 1,000 grants of $5,000 each to female entrepreneurs in the U.S. to help alleviate the immediate needs and support the long-term recovery of those impacted by this crisis." + a red backpack + a free annual MasterClass All-Access Pass. Did you miss the "Should I Bootstrap My Startup?" Event? Despite the hardships, we are seeing more startups take the route of bootstrapping while arguing that not everyone should raise capital to grow their business. There are several benefits with bootstrapping your startup. 3 GT Teams Among Winners in MIT COVID-19 Challenge Event Three Georgia Tech interdisciplinary engineering student teams were among the four declared winners in their category at the  MIT COVID-19 Challenge   event  held April 3-5. The online, virtual hackathon event attracted 1,500 people, creating 240 teams, which competed for monetary prizes, computing resources, organizational support, and direct access to key partners to further develop, validate and implement solutions developed. The 2020 MIT COVID-19 Challenge attracted more than 50 partnering organizations. Read more...
