Research suggests that teaching is one of the most stressful occupations in the United States. Educators who are under chronic stress, which may be exacerbated by the effects of the pandemic, are more likely to experience burnout, job dissatisfaction, and exhibit poor performance in their classroom instruction.

School and district leaders can help ensure that students receive high-quality instruction and support from their teachers by addressing the chronic stress and burnout that many of them experience. In a recent brief, Addressing the Mental Health and Well-Being of Educators Through Self and Collective Care: Tips for School Leaders, we highlight several strategies for how school leaders can support the mental health needs of educators. You can read the full brief here.
