As part of the HRBT Expansion Project, construction crews will implement weekly lane closures, detours and traffic pacing on local roads, I-64 and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Travel restrictions include possible delays, reduced speeds and detours in some areas. Lane closures, detours and traffic pacing are subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors.

HAMPTON

Overnight Lane Closures and Detours

Tuesday, April 7 through Thursday, April 9

  • Flagging on Mallory St Bridge from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Detour I-64 east off-ramp at Mallory from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. CLICK HERE for the detour map.
  • Single lane closure on I-64 west from Hampton Shore to Mallory St from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Friday, April 10

  • Detour I-64 east off-ramp at Mallory from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. CLICK HERE for the detour map.

  • Multiple stoppages (up to 20 minutes each) on I-64 east/west at HRBT from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west at HRBT from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Friday, April 10

  • Multiple stoppages (up to 20 minutes each) on I-64 east at HRBT from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Single lane closure on I-64 east at HRBT from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
NORFOLK

Overnight Lane Closures and Detours

Tuesday, April 7 through Thursday, April 9

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east at Willoughby Bay Bridge from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west between West Bay Ave and Patrol Rd from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Friday, April 10

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east between Willoughby Bay Bridge and West Bay Ave from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Single lane closure on I-64 west between Patrol Rd and West Bay Ave from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.


Continuous Lane Closures and Detours

Friday, April 3 through Friday, April 10 (24 hours per day)

  • Temporary traffic signals installed on Bayville St including before I-64 east on-ramp.

All construction schedules are pending weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Please check the project website's Traffic Alerts page for updates.


Motorists should expect delays or take alternate routes. As always, motorists are encouraged to slow down, eliminate distractions and pay careful attention while driving through construction zones.
