As part of the HRBT Expansion Project, construction crews will implement weekly lane closures, detours and traffic pacing on local roads, I-64 and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Travel restrictions include possible delays, reduced speeds and detours in some areas. Lane closures, detours and traffic pacing are subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors.

Overnight Lane Closures and Detours

Monday, July 21 through Thursday, July 24

  • Single lane closure on I-64 west from Hampton Shore to Mallory St from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Multiple stoppages on I-64 west from Hampton Shore to Mallory St from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Each stoppage may last up to 30 minutes.


Tuesday, July 22 through Thursday, July 24

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east from Hampton Shore to Mallory St from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Friday, July 25

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west from Hampton Shore to Mallory St from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Multiple stoppages on I-64 west from Hampton Shore to Mallory St from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Each stoppage may last up to 30 minutes.

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east from West Bay Ave to Patrol Rd from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • Single lane closure on I-64 west from West Bay Ave to 4th View St from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Friday, July 25

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east from Norfolk Shore to 4th View St from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Single lane closure on I-64 west at Willoughby Bay Bridge from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Detour at 4th View St on-ramp to I-64 east from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Single lane closure on I-64 east from West Bay Ave to Patrol Rd from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Single lane closure on I-64 west from West Bay Ave to 4th View St from 9 p.m. to 7a.m.
