As part of the HRBT Expansion Project, construction crews will implement weekly lane closures, detours and traffic pacing on local roads, I-64 and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Travel restrictions include possible delays, reduced speeds and detours in some areas. Lane closures, detours and traffic pacing are subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors.

HAMPTON

Overnight Lane Closures and Detours

Monday, March 16

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east at Mallory Street Bridge from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Thursday, March 19

  • Single lane closure on I-64 west at Mallory Street Bridge from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Friday, March 20

  • Single lane closure on I-64 west from Hampton Shore to Mallory St from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Friday, March 13

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west at HRBT from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Multiple stoppages (up to 20 minutes each) on I-64 east at HRBT from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Monday, March 16 through Thursday, March 19

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west at HRBT from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Tuesday, March 17 and Thursday, March 19

  • Multiple stoppages (up to 20 minutes each) on I-64 east at HRBT from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
NORFOLK

Friday, March 13

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west between Willoughby Bay Bridge and Patrol Rd from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.


Saturday, March 14

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west between Oastes Creek and Willoughby Bay Bridge from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m.


Sunday, March 15

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west between Oastes Creek and Willoughby Bay Bridge from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Sunday, March 15 and Monday, March 16

  • Detour on I-64 east at West Bay Ave on-ramp from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. CLICK HERE for the detour map.


Monday, March 16 through Thursday, March 19

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west between Patrol Rd and Willoughby Bay Bridge from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Friday, March 20

  • Single lane closure on I-64 east/west between West Bay Ave and Willoughby Bay Bridge from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Flagging at Bayville St from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.



Continuous Lane Closures and Detours

Friday, March 13 through Friday, March 20 (24 hours per day)

  • Temporary traffic signals installed on Bayville St including before I-64 east on-ramp.

All construction schedules are pending weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Please check the project website's Traffic Alerts page for updates.


Motorists should expect delays or take alternate routes. As always, motorists are encouraged to slow down, eliminate distractions and pay careful attention while driving through construction zones.
