Weekly Lookahead: 1/15 - 1/23/2026

BELLE CHASSE, LA. - The Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement Project announces the activation of permanent traffic signals on LA23 and Engineers Road. The anticipated traffic impacts of these activities include:


Thursday Night - 1/15/26

7 p.m. - 5 a.m.

  • Right lane LA23 southbound from Algiers Bridge to Barriere Road
  • Right lane LA23 northbound from Woodland to Algiers, then shifting to close the left lane from Barriere Road to the Algiers Bridge


Friday - 1/16/26

9 a.m. - Noon

  • At DOTD's request for the replacement of the traffic signal control box, state trooper/local law enforcement will be directing traffic at Engineers Road/LA23 while traffic lights are not operational
  • No lanes will be closed


Friday Night - 1/16/26

7 p.m. - 5 a.m.

  • Right lane LA23 southbound from Algiers Bridge to Barriere Road
  • Left lane LA23 northbound Barriere Road to the Algiers Bridge


Sunday 1/18/26 (Night) thru Thursday 1/22/26 (Night)

7 p.m. - 5 a.m.

  • LA23 southbound alternating single lane closure from Algiers Bridge to Barriere Road
  • LA23 northbound alternating single lane closure from LA406 to Algiers Bridge
