Dear Neighbors, Statement

We have had great success with our public private partnership with the Bangs Lake Alliance, not for profit (NFP).

This project is focused on restoring the shoreline, restoration of the habitat and clearing the circle channel for boat traffic and was done through a cooperative effort of citizens and local government.  Private donations, grants and local governmental  cooperation made this project possible at no cost to taxpayers.  The Bangs Lake Alliance group said "As we are nearing completion of Phase One, we would like to send a Heart Felt Thank You to all of our Partners. Your support exemplifies what  Partnerships can accomplish. Phase two is the restoration of shoreline which will provide opportunity for additional partners to join the effort."

Ask the MayorAsk

Can we consider an ordinance for Christmas trees to not be allowed on the lake during ice fishing season?

They are not removed and merely left to be discarded into the lake when the ice thaws.

Answer:

Ordinance 92-102 addressing

Littering and Polluting already exists.

We manage Bangs Lake through a cooperative effort of another public private partnership, The Bangs Lake Advisory Group.  They have asked that we  remind l ake user that it exists.

However, the trees (without decoration) can be good for fish by providing underwater habitat and cover.  The trees quickly decay, so they need to be replaced periodically.  The trees can actually be a benefit to the lake. Click here for more.
