Industry Discounts

I am sorry to have to write this again, but I have had multiple wineries reach out and say their staff has been harassed by visiting winery personnel requesting comp tastings and industry discounts. Groups of friends, showing up on a weekend, asking loudly about a discount in front of other guests. Often these folks have no winery business cards, or they work in departments that are not related to tasting rooms or visitors experiences (so they would not be referring guests).

Keep in mind...

  1. Ask discreetly if there is an industry discount - some wineries do not offer one.
  2. Have some form of ID to verify your employment
  3. Do not show up with a group of friends on a weekend (expecting your discount extended to the entire group) or comp tasting for a group.
  4. Every winery has a different policy - you could call ahead and confirm.

Owners and managers - please discuss this issue with your entire team.

We all need to work together and support each other, not burn bridges.
