HELP WITH THE SENIOR ALL NIGHT PARTY

All parents invited to participate!

Class of 2026 Senior All Night Party

Sunday, May 31, 2026

10:00pm - 5:00am

The SANP is a long-standing tradition that provides our graduating seniors with a safe, fun, and memorable way to celebrate together. It would not be possible without the support of our parent community, and we are reaching out to ask for your help! The Signup Genius links and donation links are below, making it easy to get involved right away.

Your involvement not only helps make this year’s event a success, but it also directly benefits future classes. Any funds remaining after this year’s party will carry over to support next year’s Senior All Night Party, helping to reduce costs and strengthen the event for your student’s senior year.

We appreciate your help and support!

END OF THE SEMESTER DATES & POLICY REMINDERS

Students were sent the following information for end of the semester dates and policies in preparation for final exams, papers, projects and presentations.

SENIORS CLASS OF 2026

Friday, May 15

Senior English papers are due by 11:59pm.

ALL senior work must be submitted and graded by midnight (Friday, May 15) except for final exams/projects/presentations.

There will not be a “no testing period” for seniors, but once a final experience is completed, classwork can be given and graded, but further homework (work to complete, additional reading, preparation for a quiz or test) should not be extensive. This will allow students time to work on other presentations, projects, and prepare for final exams.

May 18 - May 20  Senior Final Exam days

A final exam experience for Seniors needs to occur on one of these days. Seniors are required to be present in class on May 18, 19, and 20 for final presentations, review days, or final exams/papers. This will be determined by the classroom teacher. Seniors will be able to come and go as they please, but must enter and exit the lobby doors after school begins at 8:00 am. Some sample scenarios: 1) A senior could have a review day on Monday, and the exam on Tuesday and therefore would be expected in class on both days, 2) A final paper could be turned in on May 15 and the Senior would not need to attend class since the final experience is complete, 3) Final presentations are held May 18-20 and all students are expected to be in class all days to present or critique other student presentations, 4) A final exam is given May 19 and students do not attend on May 20.

Thursday, May 21

Honors Convocation, Adviser Parties, and Moving Up

All seniors are expected to be in attendance in order to participate in Adviser parties and Moving Up.

Mercy Day of Celebration - Honors Convocation, Adviser Parties, and Moving Up

May 18-26

The five days before exams should be assessment-free for students to prepare for final exams, complete final projects/presentations, and prepare for world language orals. New content can be taught/learned and included on the final exam. Students can be assigned classwork and homework that prepares them for the final exam. Due dates should be reasonable.

Tuesday, May 26

All grades posted for all assignments except final projects, papers, etc (9-11)

Wednesday, May 27 - Friday, May 29

Final Exams for 9th - 11th grades

Wednesday, June 3

Final Grades posted by teachers (9-11) at 9 am

Rescheduling a Final Exam

Only under serious circumstances, that are out of the student's control, will a student be permitted to take an exam other than at the scheduled time. Students must initiate that request by completing and submitting a form (available in the Student and Family Handbook or at the Reception Area) to be signed by a parent, verifying the need for a change in test time, accompanied by appropriate documentation (i.e., medical documentation, airline tickets, etc). The request must be submitted two weeks before the final and approved by the Associate Principal of Academic Affairs and the teacher involved.

If a student is simply changing the day/hour to ease their exam schedule on a given day (but not to finish earlier), an email notification from the teacher, approving this arrangement, to Ms. McMaster is all that is necessary.

MERCY DAY OF CELEBRATION MAY 21 - 12:40pm DISMISSAL

Honors Convocation, Adviser Parties, Moving Up

As we near the end of another wonderful school year, we have planned a special final day of celebration for our student body on Thursday, May 21. The schedule can be found here and will include the Honors Convocation, Adviser Group parties and the closing Moving Up assembly.

We hope that this day is a fitting end for students of every grade level, with special focus on our graduating Class of 2026. Our expectation is that all students will be present for the entire day. Please do not make arrangements for your daughter to either arrive late in the day or to leave early. Students who wish to participate in Adviser Parties and Moving Up also need to be in attendance at the Honors Convocation. Normal daily attendance procedures will be followed.

As always, we deeply appreciate your support and look forward to a memorable day of celebration! Students are asked to please dress to impress for this special day and seniors should bring/wear their cap and gown.

Schedule

8:00am to 8:40am - Adviser Meeting, Party Set-up, Honors Convocation Preparation

All students should report to and remain in Adviser Group until they are called down to the Auditorium.

8:50am to 10:30am - Honors Convocation

Honors Convocation begins our Mercy Day of Celebration honoring students, staff and the achievements of the Class of 2026. Parents of all Seniors being honored are cordially invited to attend.

10:40am to 11:15am - Adviser Group Parties

11:25am to 12:40pm - Moving Up

12:40pm Sign Out and Dismissal

Moving Up

Moving Up is a treasured event and we all want the students' experience to come first. To make sure it goes smoothly, we ask guests to follow guidelines as described for the safety of students, orderly closing of the school day, and enjoyment of all. If you intend to join us, we kindly ask that you observe the following guidelines:

  • Seats will be clearly marked as reserved for students and staff. No guests may venture into those areas.
  • No preferred seating arrangements can be made for the elderly, children, etc. since space is limited. This event is not suited for any visitor who cannot stand comfortably for 30-40 minutes.
  • No parking will be allowed in unlined spaces in the lot. Curbside access and egress is needed for buses. Security will direct vehicles away from our bus lanes.
  • Please do not roam the aisles to take photographs during the ceremony. We truly need everyone to practice restraint so as not to hinder the students as they physically "move up" to their new sections of the auditorium.
  • We ask that you not stay in the building between Honors Convocation and Moving Up.

These requests are made to assist us with giving priority to the students. Mercy Day of Celebration, specifically Moving Up is a special occasion that warrants a sincere request for cooperation. Thank you!

CLASS OF 2027 SENIOR YEARBOOK PORTRAITS

Book your Session at KMS Photography Today

Mercy is partnering with KMS Photography — our very own Mercy photographer, Mrs. Kristina Sikora — to capture senior portraits for the Class of 2027 Lore Yearbook and class composite.

We kindly ask every rising senior in the Class of 2027 to schedule an appointment with KMS Photography in order to be included in the yearbook. Please book your session early to ensure you are photographed before the yearbook deadline of November 13, 2026. Final photo selections must be submitted by November 30, 2026.

To create a unified look for the senior pages and class composite, Mercy asks that students wear a black top with a modest neckline. Please avoid strapless or low-cut styles.

Learn more about KMS Photography here, book your yearbook session here or call 313.278.7171.

MERCY SUMMER COLLEGE ESSAY CAMP

August 4 - 6, 2026

10am - 2pm

Does your Mercy rising Class of 2027 Senior need help organizing her college essay-writing process? Enroll her in our summer camp, where students will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with Mrs. Herold and Mrs. Step from our English Department. Each student will receive customized support at a fraction of the price of a private tutor.

Participants may attend any single day, or all three days:

Days 1 & 2 (Tuesday and Wednesday) will focus on Common App essay

Day 3 (Thursday) will focus on supplemental essays for individual colleges

Cost: $150 per day or $400 for all three days. Our goal is for your senior’s essay(s) to be application-ready before school begins, thereby reducing stress from the already-packed school year.

In order to secure your spot, use this link to pay a minimum deposit of $150. If you’d like to sign up for more than one day and pay the total amount, you can do so right away. Otherwise, payment for multiple days will be due when camp begins in August.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your daughter to work with professionals in a familiar setting. Mrs. Herold has years of experience tutoring students on the ins and outs of college essays, and Mrs. Step is a skilled writing teacher.

Participants are encouraged to bring lunch. Reserve your spot today!

Please send any questions to Mrs. Lucia Step lstep@mhsmi.org.
