Société Honoraire de Français Featured in National Journal L’Élan

The Mercy Chapter of the Société Honoraire de Français is delighted to share that our highly successful spring event, Le Dîner Blanc, has been featured in the fall edition of the national journal L’Élan. This publication follows Mercy’s recent distinction as one of only eight outstanding Société Honoraire de Français chapters in the United States—an honor we celebrate with immense pride.

This recognition marks an exciting milestone for our chapter. We hope that Mercy’s example will inspire other French Honor Society chapters across the country to host similar events, as Le Dîner Blanc beautifully fosters community, cultural appreciation, and a shared love of the French-speaking world.

Read feature Le Dîner Blanc article here.

Madame Joyce Smetanka Campbell and Madame Missy Kreucher were thrilled to bring this inaugural celebration to Mercy and look forward to continuing this tradition in the years ahead.

If you are interested in participating in the French program at Mercy or would like more information about La Société Honoraire de Français, please contact Madame Joyce Smetanka Campbell at jacampbell@mhsmi.org.

We are grateful for your spirit of giving and for sharing Mercy’s compassion with our community this Christmas season.

MISSION & MINISTRY

Advent Reflections

Happy second week of Advent! The second candle we light today represents Peace. It reminds us of Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem before she gave birth to our savior. Let us reflect on our lives and focus on becoming better versions of who God is calling us to be in preparation for Jesus’ coming.

FEED PEOPLE, NOT LANDFILLS

Donation initiative led by Harshitha Arvapalli '27 & Hope Carmona '27

Did you know that many in our local community are searching for reliable food sources and facing food insecurity? Together, we can make a meaningful difference.

Feed People, Not Landfills — a student-led service initiative run by Mercy Juniors Harshi Arvapalli and Hope Carmona — is collecting canned food donations at the Birmingham YMCA and Farmington Community Library now through December 19.

Harshi & Hope invite you to join the effort to combat both food insecurity and climate change by donating shelf-stable items from your pantry to support neighbors in need. If you have any questions, contact them at harshitha.arvapalli@mhsmi.org and hope.carmona@mhsmi.org. You can also follow @feed.people.not.landfills on Instagram for updates and future opportunities to get involved.
