The Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast was successfully attended by both parent and community volunteers this morning. So Awesome! Each year the Lakeside School Board and Staff recognize an outstanding Lakeside Volunteer. This school year there are two volunteers deserving to be recognized. Whitney Barnes for her tireless work on the Foundation Committee for many years and for her extraordinary level of volunteerism at Lakeside School. Also, Kathleen Hart for her efforts with the Measure C Parcel Tax campaign in 2010 (volunteered prior to her own children attending Lakeside!), Jog-A-Thon lead, PTA member and numerous contributions on campus supporting students and staff. Thank you to all of our fabulous Lakeside Volunteers. You make Lakeside a unique, special spot for students to thrive.

The meaning of Memorial Day
"Since the earliest ceremonies in small American towns following the Civil War, we have gathered on Memorial Day to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. As in those early days of laying wreaths and placing flags, our national day of remembrance is often felt most deeply among the families and communities who have personally lost friends and loved ones.
This national holiday may also be the unofficial start of the summer season, but all Americans must take a moment to remember the sacrifice of our valiant military service members, first responders and their families. Memorial Day is a day of both celebration and grief, accounting for the honor of our heroes and reflecting on their tragic loss."
Enjoy your weekend. There are only 7 school days left before summer vacation begins.
Best Regards:
Elizabeth Bozzo
Interim Superintendent
