INTERESTED IN JOINING OUR CHURCH?
We are offering “Exploration of membership” classes on all things UMC of Geneva on two Sundays after worship in September.

“Pastries with the Pastors” will be offered in the church library for all who are interested, after worship on Sundays, September 11 and 18 from 10:30-11:30am. We are happy to provide childcare if it is needed.

We would love for you to attend both meetings, as different information will be presented on each Sunday, and different church leaders will be available to speak about our church ministries.
Please let us know which date/s you are able to attend and if you have a particular ministry area you are interested in. We will invite that church leader to be present on your date/s.

Again, we are happy to arrange for childcare-- just let us know the dates you will be attending as well as the ages of your child/ren participating.

After these meetings, you may choose to join as a member, or to just continue participating in our ministries. Either way, we are so glad you are here with us!
CASTING CALL ALERT! The First UMCG Talent Show is coming October 23!
Musical talent is on regular display at UMCG. But we know there are many kinds of talent in our church family. What’s yours? We’d like to know!

Are you a ventriloquist yearning to bring dummies to life? Have you secretly juggled for years and believe you’re ready for prime time? Do you have magic tricks up your sleeve? Are you between the ages of 4 and 94 and able to play the French horn, francophone, glockenspiel, dulcimer, or didgeridoo?

Whatever your special talent, come strut your stuff at the first UMCG Talent Show on October 23, an event no one will want to miss! We’ll have a great time, raise some money for the operating budget, and enjoy some tasty desserts afterward.

Ready to sign up? Let us know what you’d like to do! We can’t wait to see you on stage!
Contact Rolland Lang or Howie Pribble for more information.

CREATION CARE
This summer the North American Monarch Butterfly was officially listed as an endangered species. Climate change and humans are the main reason for the decline in numbers. We can all help the monarch in our own yards next spring and spread the word to our neighbors. Plant native milkweed along with pollinator friendly flowers and avoid the use of pesticides in our yards and around our homes.
Learn about Genevieve Leroux (also known as the Butterfly Girl) who is featured on the Creation Care board. View a video story on Genevieve at inspriringyoungheroes.org

We can all do our part to help the monarchs!

This Fall remember to “Leave the Leaves!"

When the cooler weather comes, leave your whole leaves in flowerbeds and yards. Fallen leaves benefit the wildlife and the environment. The leaves provide natural mulch that will not only protect plants, but also break down to help fertilize the soil. Leaves also provide wildlife like turtles, toads, birds, mammals and snakes with shelter, nesting material and food during the winter. Help the garden bugs too, by keeping your leaves. Gnats, spiders and other beneficial bugs hide out in leaves along with moths and butterflies that winter as caterpillars or in cocoons. In the warm days of spring they all will emerge to benefit our gardens and feed the birds.
So this Fall leave the rake in the shed and the leaves on the ground!

Monthly meeting for Memory Loss Caregivers Group
Sixteen years ago, John Kemble asked the Pastor if it would be possible to form a group for persons whose loved ones were experiencing memory loss issues. The answer was "yes" and that group has been meeting monthly since that time.
Currently we gather in the Parlor on the 3rd Monday of every month at 10:00 AM. We are not experts on all aspects of memory loss illnesses, but we have become pretty good at "caring for the caregiver." If you are anyone you know is a caregiver of this type, please join us.
For additional information, call Linda Tamlyn at (630)406-6907.
