Making and nurturing disciples of Jesus Christ to serve the community and the world

How to see all the people…
Friends, it has been a good season to reflect with Jesus and our congregation about how we can “see” all the people of our families, communities, and world, with Jesus’ eyes and heart. How can we continue to cultivate his compassionate, generous, and forgiving regard for others, as we pass by and meet folks and hear of folks each day?
Maybe it’s a second look, after a passing glance. Maybe it’s a count to 10 to think of what Jesus might say or do, for someone we usually over-look (or look over). Maybe it’s a time in prayer to consider creative ways we can engage with our more difficult friends or family who are on “the other side” from us in various matters. Centering our sight on what REALLY matters... Read the rest of Lisa's Message here.

In all this talk of seeing all the different kinds of people that Jesus sees and helps, what about us? Yes, some people suffer and need healing through no fault of their own, but there are also plenty of people who made their misery, should they get help before the people who do everything right and play by the rules? Perhaps when Pastor Rob preaches on this familiar story it can help shed some light on the question 'what about me?’

EVENTS AND SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dear UMCG family,
Our Staff Parish Relations Committee is sad to announce that Denise Clementz will be resigning as our Director of Youth Ministries in pursuit of other opportunities with her primary employer. Denise's last Sunday with us will be October 3rd.
For the past four years, Denise has faithfully served UMCG working with numerous families and helping to renovate our youth program with Ministry Architects. We are grateful for the time God has given us together and we wish Denise and Maria all of God’s blessings in this next chapter of their lives.
SPRC will be working with the Youth Council, the Renovation Team and families to determine how to best support this transition and to support our Youth Ministry going forward.
Please lift Denise in prayer and share your gratitude for her ministry with us.
Keith Eakins and the rest of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee

CLEANOUT REQUESTED BY TRUSTEES
In anticipation of the upcoming painting and flooring project, the Trustees are asking all of the “owners” of spaces in the Church (offices, classrooms, closets, gathering rooms, etc.) to use red tags to identify those items which should be disposed of and white tags for those items which should be recycled. The tags are available on the long table inside of the Church office. We will be working with the Creation Care Team to have a list of known recyclable items available by next week.
-
We ask that the tagging be completed by October 9.
-
We also ask that anyone available on Saturday, October 16 starting at 9 AM come to the Church to help carry the red-tagged items to a large dumpster which will be in the parking lot adjacent to the west side of the Church. There will be items large and small, heavy and light, so there will be something for everyone

Hundreds up people volunteered to cleanup the Fox River at 20 different sites on the Fox River! UMCG members helped with cleanups in both Geneva and Batavia and had a ball! Lots of unique items were found and we enjoyed the additional perks of beautiful views of the Fox River and nature! We hope you can mark your calendars to join us for the cleanup in 2022!
