SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE OCTOBER 2, 2022
“With enough technology, we’ll be ok, right?” - Genesis 11:1-9

Technology is supposed to make more productive and reward us with leisure. Instead it enslaves us to our work, image, or brand. One example in the Bible of the allure of technology is the Tower of Babel. Join Pastor Rob as we explore how God responds when we fill our lives with technology.

SAVE THE DATE - RUMMAGE SALE EXTRAVAGANZA POTLUCK!!!
To all women of UMCG, you are invited to
The Rummage Sale Extravaganza Potluck
Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 4:00 PM
Yes, that is the day after the Rummage and Bake Sale. You deserve a treat! The menu will be soup, salad and dessert.

The entertainment will be a fashion show highlighting outfits selected during the week of the Rummage Sale. The selections can be humorous, as well as showing the fashion sense of our wonderful ladies. Can you take items from the Rummage Sale and put together an ensemble suitable for wearing to the office, gala or out to dinner? Or an outfit guaranteed to make us laugh! (Don’t worry, anything removed from the sale will be returned for next year or purchased.) We also need everyone working to be on the lookout for items to be used for centerpieces!

A sign up sheet will be posted on the Women’s Ministry Board Sunday. We will need salads, dressings, soup, bread, desserts, women to set up, women to take down, and dishwashers.
And of course, we will need volunteers to be models for the fashions.
If you have any questions, contact Jean Eakins.

CHURCH BUSINESS
RESULTS OF SPECIAL CHURCH CONFERENCE VOTE FROM LAST SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

The congregation voted in a Special Church Conference last Sunday on two financial questions.

Motion 1 Option 1 was approved with 48 votes and 3 votes for Option 2.

Motion 1:  Church Council moves that UMG Fund Principal be used to pay for the three capital projects (HVAC Replacement, Sanctuary Audio/Visual Replacement, and Fellowship Hall/Garden Level renovation) with an estimated cost of $880,000. The two options for paying for these projects are:
  1. UMCG secures a line of credit/loan with the Wesleyan Investive in the amount of $900,000.00 to finance the payments for the capital projects (HVAC Replacement, Sanctuary Audio/Visual Replacement, and Fellowship Hall/Garden Level renovation), currently in process or planned, with the interest only payments to be made from the UMG Fund Principal until the loan is paid off from the UMG Fund principal within the next 5 years. Church Council will have the authority to determine the timing of when the loan should be paid off. This option includes Church Conference approval for the Sanctuary Audio/Visual Replacement project with a not to exceed approval of $180,000, final approval of the Sanctuary Audio/Visual Replacement project will require Trustee and Church Council approval.
  2. UMCG will Pay-As-We-Go for all projects from the UMG Fund principal.  This option includes Church Conference approval for the Sanctuary Audio/Visual Replacement project with a not to exceed approval of $180,000, final approval of the Sanctuary Audio/Visual Replacement project will require Trustee and Church Council approval.

Motion 2 was approved with 48 Yes vote and 2 No Votes:

Motion 2:  Church council moves that when the Orville T. Anderson Trust bequest is received by the church (estimated $850,000) that $85,000 or 10% of the total bequest, whichever is higher, be donated to seed/replenish the Operating Budget Reserve Fund.
