In his letter to the people of Corinth Paul explains that we are connected, though different and that we are of one body though we each have our own bodies. When Jesus prayed "that we all might be one," this is what he was talking about. This is in this week's epistle reading.

gine that we are connected in any way at all with others who don't impress us so positively.
Then there's the differential in skill sets. Some people seem capable of doing anything at all. Some only seem to have one or maybe two capabilities. A few seem incapable of anything at all. And if we are honest with ourselves, at one time or another we realize we are being utterly competent, marginally competent and, yes, now and again, completely incompetent.
It is in recognizing difference and respecting it that we grow into our Christian heritage. After a while we embrace difference, delight in it, even. This is fulfillment of what Jesus wanted for us: that we would love one another--no matter what.
